Want to Nutria Hunt
« on: March 22, 2012, 04:51:50 PM »
Hello,
I am wanting to do some Nutria hunting.  I live in Southern Kentucky.
I'd rather not do a guided hunt.
Can anybody give me some guidance on where to go and what the seasons and regulations are for non-residents?
I have a 15' square stern canoe with a 2hp Honda that I think would be ideal to use to hunt on small water.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
JB

Well I am an old Louisiana boy hanging out in Colorado these days and had alot of encounters with nutria as I was growing up in Louisiana. Some of them got to be pretty good size rodents!  What is your reason for hunting them? Are you after the furs or use the meat for dog food? I would do a search on Louisiana and trapping seasons and I`m sure information will be available on nutria? Rifles or pistols cannot be used for shooting them over water.
