I have a line on a used 45-70, the standard rifle, pallet stocks, open sights for $250 shipped to the FFL, who will charge around $25 for the paperwork.  Not sure about the SN yet.  Is that a good deal? Joe

Jason who is your dealer in Ohio?  I am also in NE Ohio.
I was trying to talk myself into this deal, but think its too high. I may make him a really low offer and see what happens...

Sounds high for used.  Buds is only $262 shipped free and only other charge is your FFL  Think I'd go that route and pay buds cash price, so you get the lifetime warranty on the rifle.   ;)

bought a new one in jan. just like that for $225 in KY.  Seems a little high.

I made him a low offer but he doesn't really want to come down significantly. So I will keep looking.
 
Jason we could get together and shoot sometime since we probably both live in Jefferson Co. if Weirton is right across the river from you!

I usually go over to new manchester to shoot or fernwood, i been trying for years to get in mingo or jefferson sportsmans club with no success

I just bought an NIB 22" 45-70 that the shop sent back to Illion for a trigger job and peep/fire sight install.  Including the $20 FFL the gun cost me $245.

I reciently bought two used 45/70's here in CT.. under 200 each...  Rem thi sis a std model, no fancy wood, no monti carlo, but does have sites.

At 250$ it would be too rich for me unless I had to have it.  ::)

There's one on Gun Broker right now at an asking/starting price of $200+S/H & FFL fees, the bidding ends real soon.  Looks like no takers at this time, if he drops the starting price, he might get a bid.

You might check at the "used rifles" at www.whittakerguns.com. He often posts 45-70's. There are none at this time but if you call he might have one just not posted on the internet. He rarely posts over $200 for a used Handi. He has a 444 marlin for $209 but it is unfired in the box.
