10/22 Barrel Question?
« on: December 31, 2002, 07:22:34 AM »
I just wanted to hear some feedback on the adams& benett target barrels for the ruger 10/22.
Getting ready to purchase a new bull barrel and dont want to spend a fortune, but would like to get one worth bolting on. I have heard mainly negatives on the butler creek versions but have not heard anything on the adams & Bennet. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I had one on a 10/22 and thought it did fine. No problem with half inch groups at 50 yards using standard velocity ammo. I've read that these are actually made by Green Mountain, which has an excellent reputation. You might want to check Midsouth Shooters for their price on the Green Mountain barrels.

10/22 Barrel Question?

I bought one from midway a few years back with a hogue over molded stock. Acurassy is as the other fellow stated. I haven't tried any high velosity ammo, just sticking to the pmc moderators and remington subsonics. Worst group is .75", best .22" at 50 yards with rem subsonics. Average is a hair under a half inch. Be sure to get a target hammer, power custom or volquartsen makes no difference, thats what really enhances the acurassy of the heavy barrel since your not pulling the gun when you pull the trigger.
The green mountain is exceptional as well, just depends which one you can find on sale or with a package deal cheap. I haven't heard anything good about a butler creek.
