Front sight - easy on/off?
« on: March 27, 2012, 05:08:32 AM »
Is the front sight soldered on or does the screw holding the bead to the ramp go all the way through and hold the ramp to the barrel?

Ramp and blade are one piece, screw holds it in place unless it's been changed by someone.

It's also held in place with green loctite.  You'll have to heat it to get it off otherwise you'll just strip out the allen head screw.  At least that's the way mine was.  I just dipped the end of the barrel and front sight into a pot of boiling water.  That softened the loctite enough to remove/

I've removed more than a dozen front sights on H&Rs since I don't use em, never had a problem with em not coming off or stripping the head, scope base screws are another matter entirely tho, they require heat usually!  :-\
