ruger bought marlin?

   so i am talking to a guy on facebook, says he bought a marlin rifle and it had to go back to get serviced.   he insists that ruger bought marlin and he knows this because of the conversations he had with the people on the phone and regarding where he sent his rifle to.   but i cant find a thing on the web about it.  anyone else heard anything like that?

I doubt Remington {Cerberus Freedom Group} would give Marlin up... but these days anything is possible.

i was looking at getting a 1894 in 357, but went to the gun shop and the guy there, said the quality on them sucks eggs and he has had to send most of them back that he has recieved.  he actually advised me against it right now; and that shop has a great reputation from the folks who have done business with them. 
   it sure would be nice if ruger picked up marlin.   i got a few levers i would like, a 357 1894 and a 1894p in 44 mag.  but i want a good gun, not one thrown together as an after thought.   if i find out ruger did buy them, i would wait until i saw a ruger produced gun and i would buy a few of them.

it is a 44 magnum in guide gun configuration.  with a 16 1/4 inch barrel, recoil pad and barrel porting.   they are even shorter and handier than a 20"bbl 1894.   they are rare as hens teeth and command top dollar.

I've read on the Marlin Owners site many unhappy posts reguarding the quality of the new Marlins. I have a couple of old models,and their excellent!

If you want a Marlin buy one off gunbroker that was made prior to the cross bolt safety.  The quality was good then.

Mostly sour grapes from old Marlin employees.  I wouldn't buy a new gun of any make right now.  The quality is worse and a used one can be had for 1/2 the price of new.

IMO it is...I won't own a ported gun.  My hearing is bad enough.

+1 on that.  a couple of shots with a ported rifle and your ears will ring for days.

Ive got one and its a pleasant little rifle to shoot. Very little recoil and its not all that terrribly loud. Nothing like my ported 4570 or 444 or even close to my 7stw with a break on it. Now that one will shake the ground!! Only problem with the Ps is they were notoriously not tackdrivers and mine fits that description. It will shoot about a 2.5 inch group at 50 yards with its best load and at a 100 its about a 6 inch gun at best.

  I think I would look for a used one in any of the brands now built by Cerebus.
  Still, I had an earlier crossbolt model 336 which I gave to a grandson last year..it was good from day #1.

I have a 2009 1894 44 Mag. It had a feeding problem that was taken care of by the Marlin service center in California. It is accurate and feeds well. Fit and finish is as good as any production lever action I have seen in recent years.
