Wanted, 125 Gr. Lil Gun loads for 357 carbine
« on: March 30, 2012, 05:50:29 PM »
I have looked all over (with limited computer skills) and have failed to find a 125 gr 357 load for my carbines. I have a good supply of 125 gr Sierra JSP bullets and want to load them with Lil Gun powder. These loads are to be used for shooting metallic targets, not hunting. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Lil Gun is a Hodgden product, try sending them an e-mail. I've had success doing that with both Accurate and Alliant, I can't imagine Hodgden won't be able to help you.
I think the reason you're not finding any data for that is because Lil Gun was designed for the .410 shotgun.
I did find some Lil Gun loads for 158 gr and larger, so it's also possible it doesn't work well with lighter bullets. Do you have any other powders you can use?

Thanks GH1, I will e-mail Hodgdon, didn't think of the direct approach! I have and have used Titegroup, just wanted to try Lil Gun. I have used LG in 22 Hornets with good results, thought I would try it in the 357s.

I see loading data for Lil Gun starts with 158 gr jacketed bullets. It may be possible that it is simply not suitable for such light bullets.

I went ahead and ordered some 158Gr JSP bullets today. I would think you are right and they would publish loads that work to sell more powder. I will load my Hornets and the 158s when they get here, thanks.
