anyone have a glock 26
« on: March 31, 2012, 10:29:22 AM »
I had two lcps one for the truck and one for the jeep and my wife layed claim to one of them and i need a replacement and the local gunshop has one of these. Ive got a 23 and after years of bashing glocks ive come to really like it. I figure the glock is a bit big to toss in my pants pocket but would be a good compromise for a truck gun. Anyone else have one and are the little guns as reliable as the bigger glocks.

Lloyd,
I have a Glock 27 and it works fine. It's been shot quite a bit and never malfunctioned yet.
Regards, Keith

Lloyd,  I've had the same experience as Keith...It's a good "little" gun.

Lloyd,
I also bought a Glock 27 soon after they came out.   Was a great Baby Glock to compliment my 17.    Back then anyway, a lot of them first bought by LEA's were getting resold due to some LEO's having issues with limp wristing them.   Never had the problem myself though.    Just something to be aware of is all - might be a problem if your wife uses it.

One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

Its main use will be for my new truck gun. I bought two cdps a few years ago and had one in my truck and one in the jeep. My wife shot one and layed claim to one of them for a bedstand gun. They both have crisom trace lazers on them and there easy for her to shoot. I was going to buy another but when i saw this glock in the shop i figured it would serve the purpose and fill a void as i only have one 9mm right now and that one is a full sized berreta but it sits in the safe as i actually gave it to my step son. Hes in college in CA and is afraid for obvious reasons to take it to CA.

Hey lloyd, I have had several Mod 26's through the years, traded/sold, here recently I picked up another Mod 26, a 4th Generation model. I like the little Mod 26 as it fits in the wallet pouch of my leather jacket, not too bad in cargo shorts in summer, and is a good fighting pistol if really needed. I also used a Mod 26 as a truck gun one summer, used it for plinking, varmints out in the desert ( squeaks, little weaslelike critters, vermin) rats. I keep mine loaded with Corbon DPX  with a spare mag of Ranger 127 +P+. I have also shot the Magsafe Mini Glock load=wicked. I had a Mod 27 once, it just seemed a tad butt heavy to me, and I found the Glock 23 to be better for me.

well i picked it up last night. Ive really become attached to my 23. It fits my hand better then any gun other then a 1911. Its digested about 2k of cast and jacketed loads without one hicup. Now this little 26 doesnt fit my hand. I doubt that short fat gripframe actually fits anyones hand. I ordered 3 extended mags for it so that should help alot though. I think they will be in the gun for the most part. Guy can allways stuff in a small mag if you need to conseal it. Sure is a homely looking critter though. Id bet though after a few thousand rounds it will look a little better to me.

had it at the range this morning shot a box of blazer fmj just  to smooth out the barrel and then was shooting a 120 grain round flat cast with 3.7 grians of pr200 and it didnt miss a beat and i shot some 2 inch 15 yard off hand groups which i felt were pretty respectable for a gun i have to control with two fingers.

Lloyd there are different brands of these. http://glockstore.com/pgroup_descrip/3_Mags+%26amp%3B+Extensions/11_Scherer+Magazine+Extensions/?return=%3ftpl%3Dindex%26category_id%3D3%26 Pearce is another. For a stock capacity mag D on the picture gives a real good grip. It doesn't add to, just gives a place for your pinky. Shop around for cheaper sources. They make extensions to fill the gap if you use a 22 mag in a 23 or a 19 mag in a 26. So that grip of your 26 could be just like your 23 if it is in the truck. If you want to carry it when you get out just pop out the mag and put a stock 26 mag in with pinky extender. Makes them pretty versatile.

As for your original question I carry a 23 at work and a 27 for backup. Not an issue out of it.

I have had both 26 and 27. I added the floor plate to the mag that gave a finger rest and liked it. Larger capacity mags worked up to 32 round mags in the 9mm. I traded for the 23 because I like that size better. Both work well and like you I had a hard time accepting a Glock .
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

I ended up ordering 3 new extended mags. Figuring i could do just as you said and throw a short one in it if i want to tuck in my waistband.
