.41 magnum redhawk what is it worth
« on: January 27, 2004, 09:08:29 AM »
I have found a .41 redhawk for 360 dollars. it is in good shape. it has a few scratches where it had a b square scope mount on it. I understand that it has been out of production for 10 or so years. I handload so ammo would not be a problem. I would just need to get the dies. I am new to this forum. I have noticed that this caliber has a very strong following for deer hunting.  thats what i would use it for thanks bru

7bru :  The redhawk you are refering to was disc. in 1992 and the values acording to the blue book of values are for 100% $425 95% down to $295 hope that gives you a range, the gun may bring more depending on the area of the country sometimes. :D    JIM

thanks jhm I was hoping it would be a little more of a deal. just not enough of a difference between it and a .44 to make it worth the cost of the extra dies. bru

Dies are cheap. If you like the Redhawk you'll love the caliber. Snap it up. It's a shooter's and handloader's dream.

I'd try to get them down on the price a little more. But if you can live with a set of RCBS almost as new dies (NOT carbide) I can put a set on you pretty cheaply. I messed up and used the wrong order number and got the standard NOT TC dies. Reckon I loaded less than 100 rounds with them before my TC RCBS dies arrived. So they just sit and take up space.

I'm going to take another look at it in the morning after work. see what  i can do about the price. what about bullet selection. I am new to handloading handgun with the hardcast bullets. always used the xtp in .44 magnum. 210 gr bullets is about all i see in this caliber ina jacketed bullet. before i found this gun i had just about decided to get a gp 100 to carry for whitetail w/noscope and to plink. I must agree that this caliber is appealing except for bullet selection. I guess you don't need alot of selection if you can find something that works. Bru

Since the RH is used you could try to get him down a little more. Around here, that's a pretty good price. The choice in jacketed bullets goes from the 170grJHC Sierra, 200gr.SJHP Speer, and various 210gr bullets to the silhouette offerings in 220gr. There are a lot more choices in cast bullets. 135grWC to 300gr.+  Don't know if Winchester will offer their 240gr Platinum tip as a component.  Go ahead, join the ranks of the .41Magnum shooters. You'll be happy you did. :D
