Bluegills...again!

  >I hit my favorite farm pond, today and came home with 22 keepers. I kept nothing less than 8" long and the filets filled a quart sized freezer bag.  I can't wait to get them in a skillet and try them out.

There are only 8 bluegills in this basket, as I'd just began fishing. The thickness, vivid colors and strength of these bluegills were impressive. This pond is spring fed and has always produced quality fish, since the day that I discovered it, back in '86.

Did the same thing last week - four days!  I like to fillet them while still wiggling and then straight in the hot oil.  Caught them on my fly rod, too.  They're bedding now like they don't usually do until late April.

I did pretty much the same thing, but a little better. Of course, my dad and I fished ALL DAY, but we ended up with 62 huge bluegill, 17 crappie (we call em sacalait here in LA), 2 catfish, and 2 largemouth bass. All on ultralight spinning combos with beetle spin lures... What a BLAST!! I'll post pics in a minute.
