My memory stinks.
« on: April 02, 2012, 06:25:12 AM »
I have asked this before, but my memory stinks.  What scope models have folks used successfully for forward mounted scopes.  Not the pure scout scope, but the forward mounting using the longer Ultra scope mount that results in the bell being just in front of the hammer.

Thanks for the help.

Fixed low power shotgun scopes mounted on a Weaver #82 or Ultra rail work, Leupold M8 compact or Simmons 2½x20 and 4x32 for me.

Thanks, I have a rail that looks like the same length as the Ultra rail, but lacks slots in the middle and has a "tightening pin" near the end that screws down from the top side of the rial to contact that barrel underneath, in addition to the regular mounting screws.  I think it will work well on my 44 mag Talo barrel.

I have to face it, as much as I love peep sights, and as handi as my 18.5 inch Talo 44 mag is, I will have to scope it.  My eyes are no good at seeing sights anymore.  So I want as small and unobtrusive a scope as I can get for a reasonable cost.
