Model 29 Broke!

I went shooting on Saturday and when I got home I went the clean the gun and the trigger felt like there was sand in it.
Took off the side plate to clean out the guts and the trigger fell out.  The trigger hinge pin broke.
Well I guess I get to see how good the S&W waranty is when I send it back to them.
How many of you have had this happen.

It's never happened to me, but you probably have more rounds through yours than I do. I hope they take care of it like they did in the old days.

The cool thing is, that it still shot until I took it apart.  The trigger just felt gritty.

The rebound slide broke on my first 629. I sent it to S&W and I got it back PDQ no charge.

I've probably got over 25k rounds thru my M-29 no issues.On the other hand I had to send my older model 610 back twice for quality issues some 20 years back. On the good side,unless they have changed alot,they fixed it fast and right. Good luck

 My first Mod 29 would get out of time often. Back then, I had to wait until I had a day off, drive 40 miles to the gun shop and wait a couple weeks before I could get it back. Pain in the heinie! I had a Mountain Gun in .44 mag and its trigger got all crazy, but by then, I lived here in Utah and my friend ( a very good smith) lives just across the valley. Now that I have a joint replacement in my shooting hand, I don't own any big revolvers, but I was surprised how delicate the Mod 29 was (still is?) Come to find out, the only way Dirty Harry kept his running was , according to Magnum Force, to shoot .44 special equivalent handloads. ;D

I read somewhere that he dirty harry load was the Remington 200 Grain Keith bullet in 44 special .
I liked them when they made them.  Wish they would reintroduce them for the what ever anniversary of Dirty Harry.
