What gun would you make or bring back?
« on: April 03, 2012, 06:06:01 PM »
With the huge lottery the other night, taking a walk with a cigar and thinking what I would do with my winnings, I know the lottery is a tax on stupid people and that I have almost no chance of winning, but the $5 is woth the metal masterbation.
So I hit the gun part of my what would I get.
And I came to a part of what would I have made.
I was thinking of a new batch of Mauser 96 in current calibers.  As well as some of the classic calibers.
Was thinking of a batch of Ruger Bisley's
Or possibly having a batch of Webly Fosbery auto revolvers in calibers like 44 Special, 45 Colt, 38 Special.
What would you have made or brought back?

I was thinking handguns but if you want to talk rifles we need to post that on another board and I cna give a bunch of them.
I was also thinking that a Volcanic pistol would be a good addition to a firearm company.
You know I would need ot start a whole new company making some classic handguns.
Volcanic in a few calibers like 22LR ,38 Special, and 44 Special
Mauser 96 Broom handle in 30 Mauser, 9mm, 9X23, 38 Super, and 45 ACP with and with out detachable mags.
Webly Fosby auto revolver in a few calibers
and an AR lower kit that will take standard handgun mags like SIG, Glock, and Beretta with an upper to shoot the same pistol calibers.
Other rifles would be an M1 Garand and a BAR to shoot 223.

I'd just call Shiloh Sharps and tell them to send stuff until I call them and tell them to stop.

"Tax on stupid people", " mental masterbation" That's so true! ;D  (but damn, I still throw a fiver in the pot once in a while).
Ruger is currently offering a stainless 5.5 Bisley convertible 45LC/ACP. I'd love to see a.357/9MM  and a .22 Bisley as well. Definitely more stainless with the Bisleys.

Is Walther still producing the PP in.22LR. If not, I'd like to see a run of these come out in stainless or blue.

OK but isn't there something that they make you would want in a different caliber?
One of the target or buffalo rifles in 22LR or 22Hornet?That you would order a bunch of to sell, thinking if you want one others would too?

I'd get TALO to procure a run of .50-70 H&R Buffalo Classics with 26" barrels.  A run of 5 shot .480 and .454 Ruger Super Blackhawks would be nice too.

Ruger has a custom shop you just have to by 500 of them.
And why Talo, Why not;

DITTO ...DITTO...DITTO..

Make mine the original Sharps Carbine model.
Tied with the Sharps you could send a few Spencer 1865 Carbines my way as well.

I think I'd like a "Model 347" Smith & Wesson, ala the Night Guard series. Scandium K frame in 9mm Parabellum with the extraction system from the model 547, the big dot XS sights, and a 4 1/2 inch barrel like the old Colt New Army .41's had. Hey, I'd also like a slim, tapered barreled version of the Model 67 set up the same way. Could just be because I came across 1200 or so rounds of 9mm and I'm a revolver guy, though...

For me it would have to be the Savage 99 lever action in 308 winchester as a minimum.

Model 24 Savage in some pistol calibers over a 20 or 12 guage. Some more with a 223 or a 30-30 over the 20 or 12. Would really like them available in a stainless model too.

Someone once made a double action 22/22mag with a 10 round cylinder.  Company went out of business, but if Ruger or SW would make it I think it would sell well, especially if it had a swing out cylinder for fast reloading.

Volcanic in a few calibers like 22LR ,38 Special, and 44 Special

Get's my vote.   Starting out with a good assortment of original 31/41 Volcanics... frames, barrel lengths, finishes, engraving; and adding custom for black powder cartridges like... 32-20WCF, 38-40WCF, 38LC, 401PM, 41LC, 44-40WCF, 44 American, 44 Colt, 44 Russian, 44SPL, 45 Colt, 45 Schofield, and any other cartridge they would handle with black powder.

I have been waiting for someone to mention a Howda Pistol in modern Magnum cartridges like 44 Mag, 460 S&W, 475 Linbough, 45-70, and 500 S&W and rifles to match.

Handguns, bring back the prelock S&W. I'd like a new prelock 17.

Savage 99 in 308 as mentioned previously.

Marlin levermatic in 223 and 7.62x39 and 5.45x39.

Contender G1, pre-fire.

... off the top of my head.

In some cases my tastes are simple.
Two of the best shooting rifles I ever had were Remington's Mohawk and Model 788. I would also like to see some 22 LR in pump action again.

Let's see now.  Would have to do a bit of research for specific brands and builders but I can tell you I would have at least one custom 1911, maybe a Browning HP or two, a custom fitted over/under or two,  at least a couple of custom AR's probably more, a custom target revolver or two,  some custom SA revolvers,  I nice lever action to compliment the SAs....   :)

Heckler & Koch would be making me some P-7 and M-13 pistols in 45 acp for starts. Savage would find a contract for a run of Model 99's I would start with .300 Savage, and roll out classic chamberings every year or two.

It may well bankrupt me but I would commission Gaston Glock to come up with a pistol that was not butt ugly. ;D

Well, being as you have to be "in it to win it", since I've never bought a lottery ticket and don't intend to..I'll never win it.
But I would like a couple to be re-introduced..

The Savage 219 with it's graceful lines, add a selection of interchangeable barrels ... an all round nice alternative to H&R.  Shown below is one owned by Rangr44.

Then there is the excellent Savage model 24, which I suppose is prohibitively costly to build..

Well I figure I'm on a roll having won the lottery. 8)

Let's say a 1911 that will run a G17 into the dirt, or better yet a non railed, folded slide P-226 SIG that has a durable finish and can tolerate the abuse Glocks are known to absorb. You're right that is a bridge to far. :'(
