Updated today at 9:32 AM        FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) — The Army psychiatrist charged in the deadly Fort Hood shooting rampage is due in military court for a pretrial hearing.
Maj. Nidal Hasan (nih-DAHL' hah-SAHN') will attend Wednesday's hearing on the Texas Army post in which the judge may rule on a defense request to provide them with a government-paid forensic pathologist.
The judge also may rule on a defense motion seeking to force prosecutors to provide notes from meetings with President Barack Obama, the defense secretary and other officials after the November 2009 shootings.
Prosecutors have said no Army officers involved in the case were influenced by higher-ranking officials.
Hasan is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder and could face the death penalty if convicted. His trial is scheduled for June.

The title of this thread is inaccurate, and needs to be changed.... because Major Hasan is not a murderer, he's a suspect - he's not been convicted, he's only been accused... just like SSGT Bales.

What business does the president of the U.S. have in the prosecution of a murderer on a military base?  And why didn't any of the mainstream media find this meeting with prosecutors worthy of mention on the evening news back when it took place?  So, we're to believe it to be proper for the president to have a first person part to play in the prosecution of a murder case but he wasn't in the loop of info dissemination in the "fast and furious" debacle?

No pipe here, bro... just taking note of selective outrage & double standards. I started a similar thread about Bales; there was offense at the title characterizing him as a murderer (without caveat that he was only accused) and a member called me a traitor, the mod changed that thread title, and I got banned for a couple weeks. The only diff between this thread title and that one, was the nationality & religion of the accused murderer.

Personally, I think Hasan is guilty as hell... but we've been cautioned not to jump to conclusions, so I won't.

Who would jump to Hasan's defense? His lawyer, probably, and perhaps some Muslim radicals who would say he's a hero for fighting against the infidel army. Similarly, you've got lawyers jumping to Bales' defense - that's fair - along with some Americans who say that the only good Muslim is a dead Muslim, and who have no problem with murdering children. I guess maybe those could be termed nutter rightwingnuts, or something like that.

I sure don't, every one of them at one time were also children. How fair is it to compare the kid gloves hands off way Hasan has been treated and how SSGT Bales has been handled. What double standard are you referring to? Surely not the one wherein Muslims feel Christians are less than human and deserve death. Considering the Muslim culture I don't see any reason to consider them special. Consider their treatment of women, incredibly cruel law (Sharia) and absolutely dismal human rights record whats to like? Not to mention the endless terrorist attacks. Fill in the blanks here TM7.

My stepson, my grandkids father was stationed at Fort Hood during the Hasan murder spree. Made for a tense 24 hours. One thing for sure the motives for SSGT Bales actions and Major Hasan are very different. I think Bales snapped under stress but Hasan was politically motivated. They both were terrorists though.
