problem with new mk 3
« on: April 04, 2012, 06:39:21 PM »
Hey guys maybe you can help me out with this.
Just got a new ruger mk 3 and its got a little bit of an issue.
about 2 to 3 rounds per mag the trigger will not set, the rounds will feed fine but it seems like the bolt is not resetting the trigger on every round
I was using win, 555 & blazer ammo and both did the same thing.

has anyone now of this problem ?

Will give a few tips until others respond. Make sure your pre travel adjustment screw is not too far out. Make sure there is not gunk on the trigger plunger and spring. I have no idea what it is, some type of viscous machining grease I guess. But sometimes it is the culprit. Occasionally the disconnector will have a bur on the square notch forward of the hammer bushing hole. That doesn't allow the sear bar to engage. So no reset.

This is a more complicated gun to take apart than normal. Search on youtube for instructions if you have never taken one apart. If it looks like a little more than you want to mess with, have ruger make it right. A lot of folks never take them apart. They are known for withstanding abuse. Others use the soak and blow dry method. I would just about bet this is probably the number one 22 pistol to show up at a gunsmith's place in a box to reassemble. I don't mean to make them out to be tougher than they are. But they can be a pain until you mess with them awhile.
Good luck.
