You guys use the same .458 bullet for punching paper as you do for hunting. I really don't don't see much use for anything over 405gr unless the big yellow dozer's are hunting you. ;D

Gould 330 grain cast hard in front of 35 gr. IMR4198, Starline brass, Fed primers, lightly crimped with Lee crimper, 1550-1600 fps average. will shoot 1 3/8" 3 shot group at 100 yards with light-medium recoil. Excellent shooter! I think this is a lower end class 11 load, A Handi has no problems with it. Using 300-350 grain cast hard lead slugs would also be just fine, just go have fun.

350 grain Hornady RN or FP ahead of 28.0 grains of 2400 (in Remington brass). I have mentioned it a bunch of times but it is still sweet to shoot with little recoil and very accurate out of my Handi 45/70's. I have shot cloverleafs with it at 100 yards on several ocasions and tight groups on all other occasions at that distance. Try it, you will like it for both hunting and for punching paper....,.,.... :)
