Beretta 96 conversion?

Does anyone know if it is possible to convert a Beretta 96 Vertec .40S&W to shoot  9mm Luger/parabellum? If so what parts would be necessary to do this.

It is conceivably possible, with the right barrel and slide swap.  But I know of no company that produces such a step-down kit for the Vertec.
