El Cazador's howitzer
« on: April 08, 2012, 02:21:02 AM »
I'm sure a lot of you remember the late "El Cazador", a fellow forum member.
His howitzer has shown up for sale on the Cannon Superstore website.  Look at the third picture at this link.
It looks like it will be availible soon.

A lot of my work is also availible on this site.  But you can get a much better price by buying direct from me. ;D 8) ;)

Zulu,

Yeah, I saw the photo yesterday, and was pretty sure that it was the Revolutionary War howitzer that Dominick made for El Caz. In fact, I think that's El Caz's calendar picture.
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

Yes, it is his calendar picture from last year.

A chance to grab one of Doms older cannons is awsome . I wonder what they will want for it .

If I'm reading the right one, Gary, it looks like they are parting with it for $6,250.00......

I looked all over the Cannon Superstore site and couldn't find if listed anywhere. El Caz's howie is different than the one listed for $6,250.

Zulu,

I could swear that the other day the page had a message with something like, 'Revolutionary War Howitzer coming soon'.

I looked around at the site some more, and see that you've got your implements and tompions offered there too.

Cannoneer,
I have more than that offered on this website.  They contacted me and wanted to post my stuff on their website for sale.  It is all a cash upfront sale.  I said okay and so I have a lot of my stuff on their site now.  They mark it up about 30% and are actually selling some of my things.  Can't complain about that.
There has been some bad press about The Cannon Super Store in the past.  So far, I cannot say anything negative about them,  They send me money. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I think the bad press that came about by way of a bad transaction between Cannonmn and Cannon Superstore.  John can comment on that.

I think there was some confusion about  whether they were associated with  a man involved in criminal activities dealing with fake lankatas.

Hey Zulu, it's a good thing to make some honest extra money, no matter what Obama says. I saw all your other items up for sale there, thats why I used the word 'too'.

It appears that I was misinformed.
None of El Cazador's guns have been aquired by The Super Store.  Apparently, His widow still has possession of them.

Thanks Zulu. It's good to learn that El Caz's family isn't selling them.

Is Dennis Austin Standefer still running the 'Antique Cannon SuperStore'?

Cannoneer,
Actually, I think Ed's family is trying to sell them.  That's how the Cannon Super Store got the picture.  For some reason the deal has not gone down yet.
I don't know Dennis.  I have been dealing with Ed Harte.  In my own head, I assumed he is the owner but I don't know where that came from. :-\

Thanks, Zulu. I was curious about Standefer, because there's a blog on the net that states he died, and the store was taken over by"staff."

Ed's widow was clear about Ed's collection a few days after his passing. She indicated that their son would retain it for the family in his memory.

Dear Michael and Judy,

Thank you for your kind words. Please share the news with his friends on the forum. I am sure they are wondering why he has not posted for some time now. He loved your work and has a beautiful collection that we will keep in our family. Thank you again.

Best,

Susan Soto

 Zulu

If his family does decide to sell any pieces, I think it would be to their advantage to first post them on the forum classifieds, and avoid unnecessary broker's cuts.

You are absolutely correct. I'm confident that Susan knows that we would look out for the best interests of her family.

Talk about confidence, man, I'm going to get a swelled head, because I haven't been told I was "absolutely correct" in quite some time. Thanks.
