The Brooks Golden Gun to debut on Discovery Channel
« on: April 08, 2012, 10:05:39 AM »
The largest, as of today, Brooks Golden Gun to air on Discovery Channel on April 22. Google 'unchained reactions' for updated info. It is a new series, entertaining and thought provoking. We are proud to be associated with this competition.

The gun started as a 12" long 24 PDR, 3" diameter, that went to rickk several years ago, then stretched to 13" for Tropico and the late, and sorely missed, El Cazador66. Those three were very active and constructive forum members who drove much of the good stuff back in the day. They called their 24 PDRs "the triplets" and they are the ones who started referring to our guns "Brooks Golden Guns". It stuck.

This Discovery Gun is the largest weve shipped, so far.......stay tuned. (Zulu, please remain silent, we are almost there.) This gun is from 3 1/2" stock, 18" long, 1" bore.

Mike, that's great. Just marked it in my Calender. Everyone should own one of them at least.

I think there were two and maybe three Golden Guns.

Mike tell us the story how your guns ended up on that show...by the way the show is pretty lame, if it wasn't for your cannons I would not bothered to watch.

DD, this started with a California customer, Roger, who has bought quite a few barrels from us. I think that there were 3 Golden Guns there. He and several friends were spending weekends in the desert firing black powder cannon and the competition started for larger. My understanding is that is where they ran into someone from Discovery channel, maybe thru his friend that built the carriage.

Conversation went on for months about this new concept. Speculation is that part of the intent was to vindicate the cannon ball error. Planning went on and on for months and wasn't even filmed until last December. I also would like to have seen more 'smoke and fire'. It was filmed in Lynnwood, not far from LAX and there was a County Fire Marshall there to approve the goings on. I'm told that this is on Ytube but I havn't had time to get out of the shop to look for it....help!

Thanks to all that took the time to watch and maybe next time there will be more smoke and fire. Yes, conversation is going on.
