Question about a G2.
« on: January 27, 2004, 09:14:17 PM »
:D
I am new to this forum, I just posted an introduction in the encore/contender rifle section.  I am awaiting a call from a local gun dealer on the status of a G2 I have ordered.  My question is, what is availabiltiy of these in your area?  Hard to find around here.  I believe I did get a good price from this guy, he quoted me $267.00 for the G2 frame in the rifle version.  I have choosen this route, seems I will save a little $$ by going this way and buying the grip and fore-arm seperate.  That way I will be set up for both pistol and rifle barrels.  I believe my first pistol barrel will be a .22 rimfire, but I am not sure if it will be a mag are LR, in a 10" barrel.  This way I can shoot  a lot for cheap.  However, I am anxiously awaiting that phone-call.  Just wondered about availability and price.

They are starting to show up here in Wisconsin.  I also am waiting for the call on mine.  The price you quoted is within shouting range of mine and I am on the far end of the two weeks wait time quoted.  The dealer has one in the case, but I wanted just a frame, so am waitiong.

Please check the past posts about the legality of changing a rifle contender to a pistol.  You may be puting yourself in jeopardy legally by doing this.  I bought both of mine as pistols to avoid any suggestion of an illegal conversion.

Enjoy your G2.  I plan to have as much fun with mine as I have with my original!

I was at a gun show a couple of weeks ago and about 8-10 dealers had some, I was surprised since you never saw that many old Contenders at this show.  From that and what I have heard, they are becoming more available.

I have yet to actually lay eyes on a G2 here in Alabama, and I try to make the gun shows in Birmingham and Montgomery. No dealer in my area has one in stock. Personally, I hope they never show up around here; I won't have to come up with a new excuse for buying another gun!

Bought a G2 carbine from Ed's Contenders a few weeks back.  I was seriously considering ordering a color case hardened one but ran into Ed at the gunshow found a barrel I wanted so just bought the frame too.  I like it a lot.
