There is another Glock in my safe tonight...
« on: April 09, 2012, 03:08:36 PM »
I have been watching for a good used G20 for about six months now... My search ended tonight ;)

I picked up a early gen 1, adj site, G20 with two hi cap mags and factory box complete. It has been sent in for the recall/ upgrade in 10/93. It is a UL xx SN and in unfired condition. 400$ zero wear from holster or shooting.

Guess I have some loading to do!! ::)

EDIT:  The Glock 20 came out in 1990, AFTER the Gen 1 and with the Gen 2 guns. There was NO gen 1 Glock 20's made.

Great addition to anyone's collection! I'm a fan of the 10mm, and the platform you've chosen.  I need to get out my 10 and chrono some of the old XTP/BlueDot loads I have on hand. Haven't shot the 10 in years and my brass supply is limited .  Might just do that this coming week! I know you'll enjoy shooting the 10!

Thanks!

I have a couple 10's but this is my first 10 in a Glock.

Blue dot is THE 10MM powder in my guns too!! It's been real good in my 40 as well!

I would
Like to use 200g bullets but only avalible anymore is the XTP. Any experience with the 200 XTP's?

OK,
Glock works got $125 from me last night...

SS guide rod and three diff weight springs. Buffer, ext slide release, Alui slide cover, ext take down, new spring, complete spring kit, sand paper grips and 4.5 connector. Next will be better sites. Reading about the Henie sites. Toss up between them and tru- yello n green.

Hoping to hit the range Friday aft work! I loaded 100 rnds with Blue dot and a 180 FMJ.

I have never loaded 200gr bullets in 10mm, so can't speak to those. I haven't hunted in years, and have no first hand observations on the field performance of the 10mm. I do enjoy shooting the 10, but only casually. Still a great cartridge with lots of potential.

I loaded up 50 last night. 8.5, 8.7, 9.0 & 9.2g of Blue dot. A couple Manuel's show 9 a max while a couple others list 10.... Lee lists 8.5 as a max... Hitting the range after work.

Well I am amazed again... Let me back up for a moment...

I loaded up my first loading of Blue Dot powder and a 180 FMJ bullet. I have shot this load for many years with great success. It shoots at almost 1100fps from a 5" Delta barrels. Shoots even BETTER from the Glock barrel!! This was at 10 yards.

I moved to 25 yards and easilly kept them on a 2" shoot n see paster.

When I was loading the box of ammo I came across some 9MM's I had loaded for the Lone Wolf conversion barrel I bought for the 23. I had never shot the barrel so I tossed it in the box. I broke down the 23 and loaded up a mag. OMG, JUST as good!!  Again 10 Yards...

VERY HAPPY!!!!

Did some more shooting today and found that the 200HP W/9.5G B Dot loads are not hot at all, NO expansion at the web what so ever. So I can try a 10th more and see...

Also this G20 dosen't have the tell tail FP strike generally seen on Glock brass...

What I also found was that one of the mags has a sluggish spring, dis assembly and cleaning did nothing and produced nothing. (Still not right)

I just ordered all factory internal parts and wolff X power springs... That should do the trick!!

Shooting again Thursday... man I LOVE this thing!

Well plans changed and Thursday at the range became Wednesday as another meeting was moved earlier tonight....
SO I grabbed the 10 a couple 45's and a pocket rocket.

I shot at 25 yards allot more and was again impressed!!  My 180 FMJ load of Bdot went into about 3-4" offhand without trying hard. When I applied myself and slowed a bit it was in the blk of a 50' T&R target. Then I tried the 200g loads. I did not notice the fireball out of the muzzle last week but WOW it is there!!! These did not prove as accurate but I am adjusting them as they show no pressure signs. Accuracy was about the same offhand but sitting off a rest was not allot better.

What suprised me was the lil pocket rocket. (NAA 22 mag) Mis fire after miss fire!!!  I don't know what happened I gotta take it appart maybe the main spring  is fatigued?? Light strikes are the cause.

I am really loving my G20!!
