Good .22 scopes
« on: January 28, 2004, 03:02:11 AM »
Am buying a CZ 452 American .22LR after seeing some groups owners shot at my gun club. What would be a good scope for this gun? And, what about parallax problems on the scopes designed for big bore rifles?

If you are worried about parallax, then get a scope with an adjustable objective.  I don't know what type of power you are looking for or how much you would like to spend, but would recommend the Elite series or the Nikon Monarch, say in something like the 4-12 or 4-16.  I believe these too brands are one of the better buys for the money.

.......First the normal big bore scopes will show parallax with a rimfire at normal shooting distances for a rimfire and in a ACCURATE gun you WILL see a difference.....I sold on Leupold scopes and the rimfire compacts are great....the small 4x, 2-7rimfire and 3-9EFR are all great scopes......I've used them all and the 3-9EFR will adjust from 10m to infinity and is a great size for a field gun and the CZ.........if you want more power the 4-12AO adjust down to 25ys and isn't too large and a step up to the 4.5x14AO40mm gives you a good field and paper shooting scope adjust to 25yds and is super clear....it might be a little large looking on the trim CZ......There have been some bargin sales going on at some shops on the 3-9EFR compact and you might check around for them....I have 3 of them on sporter rimfires and a 4.5x14 on a couple of full sized 22sporters and they are great for field use and paper playing......I hear good things about the Burris compact AO scopes and just haven't had a need to switch from the leupolds.......just add good fitted base/rings and then hunt for the guns favorite ammo and enjoy......good luck and good shooting!!!!

The Leupold Compact 3-9EFR scope really is one of if not the best out there right now for the rimfires if you're looking in that price range. Someone else really should jump into this market nitch to challenge this scope but I honestly don't think anyone really has.

Depending on your use of it a scope made for a centerfire rifle with parallax adjusted to 100-150 yards might do fine. But if precision shooting is what you're after get an AO feature on the scope.
