Handi Rifle in 32/20
« on: April 11, 2012, 02:39:49 AM »
I would like to have a Handi in 32/20.  Did H&R/NEF ever make one or make replacement barrels for this cartridge?  If not, I'd appreciate your thoughts and suggestions as to how to proceed if you think this is a feasible project.

Thanks.

No, H&R never made one, but I have one made by GBO member Larry Trotter (trotterlg).  It's a .303 barrel stubbed to an H&R shotgun.  It shoots bullets ranging from .310 to .313.  Prefers .311-.312.  It is very accurate and economical to load for.  It is one of a couple of best-loved Handis.

I also have one. Mine, like Peter's is "stubbed" from a shotgun barrel and a piece of a LEE-Enfield 303 barrel.

I also always wanted one and will never part with it. It's quite a good shooter with 4227 powder and a 123g spitzer. It also shoots 100G XTPs much faster than one would expect!

CW,
Is that a price tag on your 32/20? If so, I'll take it!  :D ;D

Thanks, Dinny

LOL, not a price Tag but a ID tag...  ;)

I have to admit, I cannot remember what each of my firearms has been sited in with,  at what distance and when. ;) Not to mention the obvious info, like caliber, scope & dates of each time to range... I put one on each of my rifles.
On my longer range shooters I also have velocity, bullet weight so I can figure bullet drop at different ranges.  ::)   I was never a fan of tape and scribblins on my guns...  :o ;)

CW, I do something similar.  I put the info on a 3 x 5 card and tuck it under the Allen nine cartridge holder on the butt stock.  When CRS strikes and I'm in doubt  I just take a peek at the card.  I've got the Allen on all the Handis now.  The only thing I don't like about them is that they sometimes cover up some pretty wood.

CW, I know exactly why you keep all your Handis looking the same.  It's so your wife doesn't know there's a new addition to the family ;) ;) 8) 8)
