Berry's MFG Plated Bullets
« on: April 11, 2012, 04:50:37 PM »

I'm trying to develop an inexpensive 38 special load for practice in my 357 Max Handi.  Anyone try Barry's plated bullets?  Results?

Just be sure to slug your bore and order .001-.002" over to get the proper seal.  For what it's worth mine doesn't like anything under 180gr, everything else I've tried so far gives minute of deer accuracy.  Goatwhiskers

I used Barry's in my 1911 when I shot IDPA . I like them! For your application though, a 148gr lead WC is hard to beat. Cheap and can be made to shoot quite well at low velocities. Get one cast hard enough and you can push them faster with less leading too.

Thanks, Dinny

I use the Berry's Plated .429 180 grain bullets in a hot 44 Special load as well as a .451 230 grain load for my 45 ACP and they work well and crimp nice.

My wife and I have shot hundreds of Berry's 148 Gr. HBWC in 38 and 357. I use 124 Gr RN in my 9MM for IDPA, have shot thousands of those.
Great inexpensive bullet with good accuracy, virtually no copper fouling. Good bang for the buck IMO.

I picked up a big box of 124g .355's for 9mm shooting and so far I do like them allot!

I plan on another box of 180g 40 cal bullets next.

I'm loading the 158 gr. Berry's over 4.2 gr. Unique for my wifes 38 special target loads.  Pretty accurate and has good plunk for moving steel plates around.  ;)

YRUpunting,
I've been very happy Berry's plated bullets in my 44 mag.  Tried Berry's 148gr HBWC in my 357 mag, and accuracy was very poor.  So, some guns like 'em and some guns don't.  If you'd like to try the 148 wadcutters without buying a whole box, I'd be happy to ship you 50 of them to try in your own gun.  PM me with your address if interested.
