HELP! can't locate mount base for Tracker 17SS6
« on: January 28, 2004, 06:58:14 AM »
I am picking up my Tracker .17 on Saturday, but cannot locate the scope mount base for it.

Taurus claims the 10-034 (in SS) is available exclusively thru them and they are not taking orders as the part is on backorder for the next several weeks.

Can't find the B-Square 42301 anywhere but B-Square's website and they want too much $$ for it.

Have called all the dealers within driving distance, no joy.

Also looked online at Natchez SS, Brownell's, and cheaperthandirt.com.

Can anyone recommend additional sources?

Try Midouth Shooter's Supply, Graf's and Lock, Stock and Barrel. One of them might have it. They would be more likely to have the B-Square than Taurus Base I suspect.

So, what are the specs on the red dot scope you are using?

Also, where is the range report?  How does it shoot?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm thinking this may be my next handgun purchase and I don't see alot of write ups.

The dot is the Nikon Monarch VSD Matte.
Specs are here: http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=4&grp=16&productNr=6610
I really like the 1MOA dot setting on this one.  It was a bit expensive for a dot, but it appears to be of quality.  No regrets.

I shot it for the first time this past Friday evening.  At 25yds (indoor), it was pretty impressive.  I was shooting the Hornady brand, and consistently was able to shoot (7 shot) 3/8" groups.  That should be good enough for whackin' tree rats!

Now I'm seeing alot of chat about the .17 Aguila/HS and .17 HM2 coming out late this summer.  These rounds would probably suite my squirrel hunting needs a little better.  Especially in the noise arena.  I'm not looking fwd to hunting with ear protection...

Anybody out there know if you interchange cylinders on the Tracker .22 and .22 WMR?  Would be nice if I could get a cylinder for this gun to support the new chamberings.

The .17hmr Taurus Tracker sounds like a winner.

I'm really starting to think that I NEED one of these.  Would make a great small game handgun.

As far as, hearing protection.  I won't even shoot a .22lr handgun without some kind of protection.  The noise from a handgun is just way to much.

Keep the hummer and look into some electronic in the ear plugs.

You do NEED one of these!

I am interested in electronic hearing protection.  Unfortunately there are some legal restrictions on hunting with these in PA.

I need to start researching them.... any advice?

I really want one.

But, I held a .22mag Taurus Tracker today, and the grip is terrible.  Why did they put such a small grip and such a muzzle heavy gun?

Anybody, no of aftermarket grips?

Without being able to go to a fullsize hogue grip, I don't think I'll buy a Taurus Tracker .17hmr.

Dang, just when I thought I found my next gun.

480,

Believe me, the grip size was a huge detractor for me also,  for obvious reasons.  I talked to Hogue before I bought it, and they promised me full sized grips for the Trackers are on their way by the end of summer.

The current grip really is quite terrible for the size of the frame and underlugged barrel....

Dang, the end of the summer?

Maybe, I'll pick one up and deal with it until then.

You can get the grips from Hogue now part # 73000. They can be ordered from www.getgrip.com  Look under Revolvers/Taurus/Tracker. I looked everywhere in Phoenix and nobody carries them yet. I ordered one I will let you know what they feel like.
Go out and get yourself a Concealed Weapons License. I did. :gun4:
