Had to cut my small tree

Had a tree that had to be cut, became a major project.  An arborist told me it was close to 300 years old.......

It was a red oak tree.  The main part of the trunk was cut into 8' sections so I could get it on the truck.  Each weighed more than 5000#.
 
Its a relief to have it down and gone.  The top was rotting from a lightning strike.  It could have wiped out mine, or two of my neighbor's homes.
 
I had a time getting a tree cutter to tackle it.

HEH, that was my first thought too. I had to have a big pine taken down that had been hit by lightning several times. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Had a pondarosa(sp) pine taken out of the driveway couple yrs ago. 59 inchs across the base. The tree guy got the wood (plus some cash) I got a lot of the limbs, cut into firewood size. A guy with a self loader came out for the logs, had to make an extra trip just for the base log. Took him some time and quite a bit of jocking the base around before he finally got it loaded. Said he had never picked  up a log that big. His pickup arm on the truck was groaning and moaning real bad.
