Oh yea, surplus military rifles can be fun. Have a few myself, but sorry, mine are Springfield 1903s or some kind of mauser type rifles. Also have a fair number of various sporterized surplus rifles and some rifles built on military actions.
Gent I shoot with purchased a couple of my surplus rifles. He made generous offers for them, too good to refuse. Also knew he'd treat them right and get a hoot out of shooting them. He was surprised by how well both of them shot. One was a U.S. M1917 and other a Swiss K-31. Darn nice military triggers in both of them and their accuracy is quite good, especially the K31. Mind you he has some darn nice hunting and benchrest rifles.....gent goes to Africa everyother year to hunt. I had to laugh the last time he was shooting the K31 at range. He'd put a scope on it (one that didn't alter its original military condition) just to see how well it shot. I wandered down to his bench after he'd zeroed the scope to check on how the rifle was shooting at a 100 yd target. After looking thru a spotting scope at the target and seeing a 4 shot cloverleaf group, I smiled and commented Gee, thats a darn shame, a military surp rifle that is outshooting a lot of your rifles that cost a heck of a lot more. He chuckled and agreed with me.
