308 win 150gr Core-Lokts on hogs.
« on: January 28, 2004, 02:03:33 PM »
Anyone tried the remington 150gr core-lokts in 308 win on hogs? How do they perform? How do you think they would compare to the Hornady 150gr interlocks?

thanks

I saw 3 hogs shot with them, and they went no more then 15 yards. 150 Rem. cor-locks, works great, two thumbs up.

I have never pig hunted (but would like to this year).  However I have used the Rem Core-loks out of my 30-06 on deer.  I think I would go for the Nosler Partitions.  I think the penetration would be better as well as no chance of fragmentation on close shots.

The only thing I have tried up close on hogs are speer 130gr btsp out of a 270. The do a heckuva job on head shots, not a whole lot left.

150 gr hornady

Bearwolf,
The only reason I replied is because the 150 gr hornady is my favorite for hogs.  I shoot a .308 A-bolt and the hornady is a spectacular hog killer.  The penetration is awesome and doubles on head shots is a sure thing.  I don't know why you would want to switch unless your gun just doesn't shoot them well.  SC hog hunter

Just switching to have a new short action rifle in stainless steel, its too much of a pain to try and keep the fancy blued 700 bdl from rusting up while chasing hogs out in the rice fields.  :-)
