Local trapper lost in snowstorm!
« on: April 17, 2012, 01:03:12 AM »
Various outdoorsmen   searched for local trapper known as Boggy lost in snowstorm.   While checking his traps Boggy lost his way in the deep snow and changed  landscape with deep snow.  Alas no fear of the Mn weather and outdoors, Boggy was found snuggled up to a couple (BVRS)  (hope his wife doesnt read this) keeping warm while drinking coffee from his thermos!! Boggy was located next to bvr pond right next to forest road.  Not wanting to leave his (BVRS) , Boggy elected to hunker down under a  huge balsam tree till he was located by searchers.   When found first words from Boggys mouth was  "did you bring any hot coffee!"

Hi Rev is my preferred brand. I actually had to send several rescuers away--till they brought some good coffee.
Lee,I just wish we had this weather a month ago--instead of the 70s and 80s.

Amazing...glad there was a happy ending.  8)

All to often the ending in't happy. Beaver trapping can be very hazardous.
“Lost?? Hmmm... been fearsome confused for a month or two, but I ain't never been lost!”
Henry Frap the "Mountain Men"

“Ain't this somethin'? I told my pap and mam I was going to be a mountain man; acted like they was gut-shot. Mother Gue said to me; ‘Make your life go here, son. Here's where the people is. Them mountains is for Indians and wild men.’  "Mother Gue", I says "the Rocky Mountains is the marrow of the world," and by God, I was right. Keep your nose in the wind and your eye along the skyline.”

Rock, lee was just kidding. I have been lucky, always made it back on my own. Though the last time I deer hunted this area(a week after I had trapped it), I ended up wading out up to my chest(in my hunting clothes), to save the life of another hunter. He had become disorientated and lost, and waded out into the water. I luckily saw him(neck deep in water, head down on a piece of bog,and already purple). He had given up and I had to wade out and pull him over the bog and lead him back to shore. From there ,I ran for back up help from my cousin and her husband. They came in their jeep and we loaded him up and took him to my great aunts house. She provided him with boots, and a total wardrobe of dry clothes--plus hot coffee and food--this guy raised caine because my great aunt--then 86 years old--failed to provide him with a belt.
Sometimes saving someones life--just ain't enough for them.
