Santorum letter: Romney as nominee ‘truly frightens me’    A latRick Santorum speaks at the Celebration of American Values Leadership Forum during the …e-arriving Rick Santorum fund-raising letter to Iowa voters is causing a stir for its harshly worded attack on presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney.   The letter, first reported on and reprinted in full by the Des Moines Register, arrived in Iowa mailboxes on Monday, nearly a week after the former Pennsylvania senator suspended his campaign.
"It truly frightens me to think what'll happen if Mitt Romney is the nominee," reads the undated letter, which is signed by Santorum and paid for by his campaign.
It goes on to repeat some of Santorum's most frequent attacks on Romney, calling him "a Massachusetts moderate," and suggesting that "Republicans and conservatives will be crippled by a nominee who presents zero contrast with Barack Obama on the major issues of this election."

The letter's "blunt message," said the Register, had Iowa Republicans speculating whether its unfortunate timing was something more than a simple mistake. "Or, did Santorum, who is still raising money and possibly not quite ready to come to grips with his loss, send this wording out deliberately?"
A Santorum spokeswoman said Tuesday night that the mailer was paid for and sent out before Santorum quit the race.
While he is widely expected to endorse Romney at some point, Santorum has so far declined to do so. In a conference call with reporters on Monday, Santorum held off on backing his former rival and said he had not spoken with him since leaving the campaign.
"I haven't supported any candidate at this point," Santorum said.

We can see you're still trying to get Obama re-elected.  We don't know why...but you have a right to do that if you wish to.

And I see that you don't care if Obama is elected or his mini mee. But I strongly suspect that you prefer the Obamanation.

Yep, Romney scares me too! But as far as what Santorum said, you need to look at everything he said. He also said over and over again & no doubt in a week or two he will continue to say that Romney is much better than having Obamma again.

So, let's put it in the perspective that Santorum would want, I would not want to cheery pick his comments to please my thoughts & I am sure no one elses wants to imploy such a Dem tactic.

As for me, I am still looking to that 3rd Party Candidate, hasn't shown up yet.

I understand everyone rallying around Romney because Obama just has to go, no doubt 4 more years of that far left guy and his hand picked ultra socialist administration and another high court judge who twists the constitution into meaningless blather will bury us, but it's just I'm really upset about the republican party going so far left and offering us not much more...well it's very frustrating.  It leaves conservatives and constitutionalists no place to go.  And the game of who has the most money wins doesn't work so well when they empty our pockets first, and then print enough money so what we have is worthless.  Whats a person supposed to do?  If the republicans are trying to commit suicide I wish they would hurry up and succeed and make some room for something else.

Yea, pretty much. But it was not so much the Rep. wanting to committ suicide as it was a splintered vote of the "more" Conservative against Romney. It would be nice to have 1 standout Conservative leader to pull it together, otherwise in 4 years (I am playing like we have 4 more years) the Old Rockefeller types/establishment will pick their guy & we will have the (more) Conservative group of 6 or 8 to spinter the vote & the "Moderate" wins again, happened with Cain, happened with Romney & likely will again if we have more elections.

I use to think the same way Jimster. Actually the same thing is said at every election cycle. At least as far back as I can remember, and at my age, that's a long time. Same thing holds true today! You get the feeling others in your party will think your a traitor if you don't  vote for the party pick!, and vote just to get along. What's the difference if we get buried today or day after tomorrow.

What does it tell you about Santorum, if he feels about Mitt the way he did in the Primary, and supports him in the General? It tells me, he's a lying Hypocrite, who's words have NO meaning period! True Constitutional Conservatives always have others to look at in an election.

The Constitution Party will have someone representing it, as well as the Libertarian and others.
I bet if you do a google search, you'll find most are good Constitutional Patriots running for those positions. I doubt if we will ever be privy to Santorum's true feelings about Romney. They are like lawyers in a court room..... Enemy's in court, and bosom Buddy's after work.

Actually, I am a member of the Constitution Party & they have their problems as well. The Party Platform & ideas are great, but the "management" has become a Monarchy.

I have to agree , I would not have voted for Santorum but admired him for his convictions and always believed he showed true integrity for sticking to his beliefs. If he endorses Romney , I will have lost a lot of respect for him, for he will demonstrate to me he is just another say anything politician. .You either stand up for your pricipals and personal beliefs or you sacrifice them for political expediency sake and become just another same old say anything politician with no integrity.

Santorum is a say anything politician, just like Romney is. Anything goes as long as it gets votes. Santorum endorsed the socialist Arlen Specter, over a conservative Pat Toomey. Santorum said "the reason I endorse Sen Specter is because I work with him everyday, and I think we agree on most things".  Santorum will endorse anyone. Heck, he endorsed a full blown liberal, so he will have no problem with liberal Mitt.

Guys, we've got to keep things in perspective.  It makes no difference whether Santorum endorses Romney, or not; the goal is to get rid of the communist.  Romney certainly wasn't my first choice, but there's nothing new about that.  It's apparent that the majority of Republican voters are at best, squishy compared to the conservatives on this forum and that's just the way it is.

As I said, Romney wasn't my first choice, nor even my second, or third choice, but one thing I'm reasonably sure of is that he is not Obama light.  Only time will tell where we go from here, but we damned sure have to get off the train-wreck we're on.

A vote for Mitt does not get you off the train wreck your on or even lessen the impact ,
it just moves you a few railroad cars back so you have more time to digest whats about to happen when impact occurs.
