Nikon Monarch 6.5X20 vs Bushnell 4200 6X24X40 Which is best
« on: January 28, 2004, 03:47:36 PM »
I usually make up my own mine when it comes to guns and scopes, but I just purchased a Remington 700 VS .223 for target shooting and varmint hunting out west.  I have never own a Bushnell scope in my life, but I do own a few Nikon Monarachs which I love.

Question is: 1.  Given the above rifle and its purpose and only choosing a Nikon Monarch vs Bushnell 4200.  Which one would be the better scope for that purpose.

                   2.  If you were out west dog hunting or back east target shooting at 200/300 yard range is the 6.5X20 or the 6X24 to much scope, should I drop down to say a 5.5X16.5 or somewere in that area.

If you are going to shoot 200/300 yards, I personally would probably go with the Nikon Monarch 4-12x40.  But with the 6.5-20x44, it would be nice to have the Fine Crosshair or the Target Dot.  I believe the Nikon's are slightly clearer and brighter than the Bushnell Elite 4200, but it is very close.
