What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Is that a common thing with banks? I don't see why they would care, as long as it's legitimate. Do they fund any abortion clinics or organizations like PETA? Somebody does.

By the way, I've got a McMillan stock on my big game rifle. Excellent. Very well made, and well designed. Highly recommended.

We should have never ever bailed them out . Too big to fail my butt. BOA has been abusive to Americans and our economy for years. and yes they are very sneeky . (actually a good word to describe their unfair shadowy business practices. )
Citi bank not much better.

I'll stick with CU's.

How about a few years ago when BOA issued all of those credit cards to all of those illegals! That really was a smart move, their thinking was that everybody else that had credit cards would cover any losses from any of the illegals that might not pay up  through service fees and deliquent payment charges, etc.!

Spot on , exact same issues with my Grandmother.

Aside from my own personal dealings I was forced to have with them , They took bailout monies, and when legislature posed non-gouge laws on them , they tried to circumvent by applying hidden fees in other ways.  They are just a disgusting Banking institution in general all the way round.

Remember this little goodie that happened in the not so recent past  -

After accepting bailout monies from American tax payers BOA proposed a new $5 monthly fee that some its customers would have to pay for using their debit cards, Passed legislation had cut the magnitude of the debit interchange fees paid to some banks by retailers. BOA intended to offset $2 billion in lost debit card revenue by charging customers directly. Scumbags, In response American's voiced their opposition by hitting them where it hurt. Their pockets , the only thing they seem to understand.  Here is a fairly recent snapshot of what their stock looks like in response. Too Big to fail , let 'em go under I say!!!

Please help us out America , we come to you hat in hand.
Thank you sucker tax payers, now here is how we repay you - by putting the screws to you.

Oh by the way They are one of the ZERO income tax paying corps that were outed. No paying of fair share taxes there.

Yet talk to a Liberal and you would swear that "Evil Big Oil" is the only "corpration" out there scaming the American Tax payer.  At least Big Oil produces something useful and actually pays taxes and didnt need a bail out.

They are no better , how about they stop taking 47 billion in tax payer subsidies every year. They don't need it. Can't have it both ways. You are either for free MKT or not. Hey maybe we could then  funnel the 47 billion back into SS to pay US tax payers back for what congress has robbed out of it using it as their own personal slush fund. It wasn't their monies , it was the American workers. Under any other circumstances it would have been called what it was theft and culprits would have been prosecuted.

A friend of mine took them up on a zero-interest credit card offer recently. He had one other credit card. A few weeks after he got the new card, which he never activated, he got a letter from BOA telling him that they had adjusted the credit limit of his other card so that the sum of the limit on the old card and the limit on the new card equaled the credit on both cards. He wasn't expecting that. It didn't cause a problem, but I think he decided to keep just the one card and I don't know if he had them adjust it back after he canceled the BOA card.

In any case, it was a sleazy thing to do because it complicates things for the card holder.

BOA has the contract to provide banking for on-base facilities at many of the military bases around the world. I started with a bank on base at Dyess AFB, TX in 1977; I never changed after I retired.  The bank sold to BOA, they picked up where the other bank quit.  For many years they were excellent, then things started to go down hill when they started charging for a bank statement.  I used the account as my business account and maintained a fairly substantial level; it was supposed to be an interest bearing account that stopped too, it just seemed that every time I went into the bank they were charging me for something new, needless to say I am no longer a customer

I have talked to several of the military members that still bank with them, they have all kinds of problems, especially when deployed.  A lot of the military have moved their accounts to other banks..

I just got a good reason. My credit card bill came today and the account I've had for over 20 years has been sold to boa. Tomorrow I go to another bank and get a new cretit card account, then cancel the boa card.

Do you have any recommendations for where i should start looking? I have only had that ine credit card, and originally got it through a credit union.

Shop other credit unions.

Yeah, what he said.  I only have the 1 card and I pay for everything with it.  Some places you get 2 or 3% back in credit, and you get at least 1% no matter where.  You get special deals on cabelas stuff as well, regardless of how you pay for it.  Once or twice a year I get invited to a members special deal too, but I've never been.  I used to have the sunset colored card and then after a year or two they sent me the black one.  I'm not sure if the benefits are different, but the limit is higher.  That comes in handy if you have a month where you buy a big item or two.

About once a year I get a free gun except this past winter I burned my points on a new gun safe...

Had someone steal my number once a few years ago and got fantastic service.  Broke my card in November and had a new one in my mailbox in 24 hours.  Never had the slightest complaint with any service.  I've used it extensively on out of state and out of country trips and the only time I had a problem was in Thailand where they blocked it thinking it had been stolen.  A call to customer service and it was back and running in minutes.

The way I see it, as long as you pay your bill you're just getting free money.  I'm going to buy stuff at Cabelas anyway, and since I never carry a balance, it's something for nothing.

Thank you!!! I never would have thought of that. That's a really good idea. I particularly like the info about how they handled the stolen and broken cards. I really appreciate the help with this. I have only looked for credit cards once, and never paid attention to them since. I don't use one much. But these reward dollars may change my behavior when traveling and buying fuel.
