Guys...

What do you think about the Walther P22 Target, with the 5" barrel?  Picked one up the other day at the gun shop...pretty neat.  Think they were asking $330...seems reasonable.  Very light weight and it seems well-suited for smaller hands.  

Anybody have any real hands-on experience with one of these pistols?

Have Walther with short and long barrels.  Have tried 4 or5 small autos, and this is the best shooter. Suprisingly accurate. Haven't figured out how to keep the barrel from loosening up after awhile. Does anyone have a fix for that little problem? Don't want it so tight that I can't swap barrels.

$330 is way too much for a Walther 22.  $250 is reasonable, better is possible.

P-22 is really cool with the bridgemount, flashlight, and aimpoint sight. You can get all this for about $150 when you buy a Nighthawk airgun kit from one of the airgun dealers.  You get a Walther CP Sport pistol with a fake silencer, the bridgemount, flashlight and aimpoint sight and it will all fit right on the P-22.  Then, you still have the air pistol to sell or play with.  I think the walther flashlight is around $90 by itself, the aimpoint is around $80 and the bridgemount is at least $30.   Check it out!!!

I've got the p22 with the 5" barrel and can honestly say I wish I'd never bought it. The newer N series is supposed to be more trouble free than the older ones but problems are still there as I found out. It is NOT a target pistol by any means. The sights really suck. I bought mine for trapping but I'll carry my rifle till all the bugs are out of this thing or it's gone. Ask yourself why a $300 gun needs to be worked on to make it right? And 95% of the p22's need work believe me. Do your homework so you don't make the same mistake I did.

Purchased a p22 Compact this winter and am having a couple problems. It is a nice looking , light compact pistol but mine is going back and if not fixed properly,, well down the road.. The safety is on the slide and when the slide cycles a bystander can easily watch the safety lever moving around until it goes to safe and shooting stops. all that holds the safety in place is a drilled indent in the frame and a spring loaded ball. Also ,, it frequently misfires. most of the time pull the trigger once more and it will work. It seems to get worse as the gun gets used. It also seems to function better if you just shoot it as fast as you can instead of going for acuracy. Going to the factory Monday.. Fed ex will pick it up and bill walther.. or so they(walther) says. Another annoying thing is all the writing and symbols on the thing. Hell take it in the bath room for some reading material. I have the .22/45 to somewhat match my 1911. I am going to get another target Mark III, The walther has not proved to be as accurate as the 22/45 . The barrel setup on the walther is strange as the rifling is a thin tube inside the smooth bore of the barrel. This is my first walther. I would certailny be easy to replace the rifling if needed.
