Equal parts (more or less) of beeswax and olive oil.

Play with the proportions to suit your climate, or time of year.

Soften some beeswax with Marvel's Mystery Oil, mineral oil, ATF, etc. or check here http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=26524

I make a slightly harder lube using Mama's old sented candles , its 1/3 candle wax , 1/3 Bees wax and 1/3 Vasoline , I also toss in a couple Crayons to color as needed ( different colors for different dia. bullets )

Do you have to use a heater for that mix?

Ya Jason , I just got a cheap blowdryer from Odd Lots and point it at my Lyman Lub-ra-sizer  ;D ,does a great job and I can adjust the heat by either putting it on low / high or moving it closer or away from the the unit .

And to melt the start mix , I just use a 4" candle warmer and let it cook in a Quart Jar till its all liquid .

I mostly anymore use LARS lubes. You can buy them from him about as cheap as you can make your own. Especialy if your using a beeswax based lube and dont have access to free beeswax. His lubes are as good as ive ever made myself and half the price of anybody elses and it gives me more time to cast, load and shoot.

This months Handloader Magazine has an article regarding cast bullets in the .44 mag, and they used Johnson wax for their testing.

+1 on Lars lubes.  I use 2500+ and BAC.  I also prefer Javelina as an all round lube from 300 to 2600+ fps.  Many who try to save a $ with home brews usually don't and then are back here complaining about poor accuracy and leading.

1lb parafin
1lb Vaseline
2tbsp STP oil treatment
A couple of crayons in your favorite color

Use a double boiler to melt it. Pour directly into your lube machine and let cool. You can also cut it up into small chunks to push down into the machine.

I made up a batch and split it with my Pop. We've been using it for about 2 years with great results!  I may cut back on the Vaseline a little to make it a little stiffer next time.

I do it all the time. I keep an old microwave in the loading room just for it. it doesnt take long to spill enough in it that you wont want to use it for anything else. I bought a pyrex bowl and keep lube in it and when i want to fill my lubesizer i just melt it and dump it in. I also use to to add alox and beeswax to harder lubes to soften them.

Jason, you never said what bullets you are lubing! Rifle , pistol or Muzzle loader! Some guys use a caliber specific lube for each boolit. SOME guys just tumble lube no matter what mold they come from. I use a lot of FELIX lube for rifles and LLA for handguns!
