I'm not taking any chances and will try to get in as much fun as I can for the rest of the year    If the world doesn't end I will be warmed up to have a really good time next year

So no it matters not of the leap years and such.

Either way as far as the Mayans were concerned their world came to an end when the Spaniards showed up and either murdered, enslaved or infected everyone. That particular doomsday kinda blindsided em for a culture credited for being so prophetic yet somehow also missed the memo on that whole getting out of the stone age thing.

I'm tired of this one. At least with y2k we all knew how the death of the machines would bring about a return to the dark ages. With this Mayan calendar bit nobody's managed to pin down HOW the world ends just that it somehow will.

Unless the Mayans predicted a complete meltdown of the entire entertainment industry over a glut of un rerunable 2012 doomsday TV programs. That in turn will send a weak banking and investment sector over the edge into financial freefall resulting in a global economic collapse so complete our alien overlords forced to reveal themselves in an effort to stave off worldwide famine and a regression of human culture back to cave paintings and worshipping the fallen abandoned cities and dwellings of the ancients.

We haven't had a UFO attack, asteroid collision, cataclysmic worldwide earthquake, devastating incurable pandemic, massive climate change, pole-to-equator glaciation, or wrath of God event in a while.
