Hard hitting load 9MM 150gr. wide meplat    A buddy of mine handloaded this 9MM 150 grain wide meplat to shoot in my Glock 17L with ported barrel. We chronied it today and got 1150fps and it sure hits hard and shoots well.

Photo is of two on left are 9MM & two on right are 45WM.

No jam yet.  I am in the process of ordering a 9MM carbine from MechTech and I am excited to shoot this round in it.

Was the bullet home cast or bought from another source?    Do you know what the mould # happens to be?   Very interesting load.....that wide meplat will smack real hard.

I'm sure you know that Glock recommends against lead bullets.  You probably have also done some reading at Glocktalk.com and found that there are people who use lead and have no problems. A prime consideration is that it feed properly. You can solve other problems after that.  rp

Whoa, Dude!! You're in dangerous territory. You're making a 172 power factor. Or 7 points over major! That load is unsafe, even the most daring USPSA shooters stay away from 9mm major. Which by the way would be a 165 power factor. That's 9x21 or .38 Super territory. It's not a matter of if you have a case failure, it's a matter of WHEN!

Dantana:  gotta go withy Savage here.  I recall from my older Lyman manual that youcan load a 158 gn cast slug to almost 1040'/sec from a 9mm, and the test gun used was a S&W M39; but even with the added inch of your ported barrel I think you are just waiting for a case failure.  The 1150'/sec you chrono-ed is more than most 3" 357 magnums would get from that bullet and you are definately way up into 38 Super country with those loads.  You should consider taking it a bit easier on both you and the Glock...
