Does anyone know if a new(er) stock , say a synthetic for an H&R1871 Handi will fit an H&R (not 1871) Handi? I have a model 258 in 20 gauge /.30-30 with the Brown Redhead rollup soft case that I got maybe 15 years ago. It's the satin nickle coat version. Problem is, when I got it, it had a scope rail, and the forearm has a big nick in it, maybe where the PO used something to knock out the open sight. I've taken off the scope rail and put a Marble bullseye in the rear. (Had to mount it backwards, because of the barrel contour.) I'd also like to get a 20 gauge slug barrel for it, but it might be smarter to just get another gun. Do the H&R1871 barrels fit the older receiver? Any suggestions?
