Is there an east way to tell an SS rifle from a CM one?  I thought a magnet but they stick to an SS rifle I have.

for the most part SS rifles won't blue and rust at a veryyyy slow rate. CM (chrome molibdenum (sp.) ) is a fairly common for of high strength tool type steel. It will blue and rust quite well.

A stainless rifel will not be blued or parkerized.  If it is not stainless looking it will be painted.  I guess a CM rifle could look stainless if it has no finish on it.  Larry
A gun is just like a parachute, if you ever really need one, nothing else will do.
