Wow, we've really got him flustered if he's using bold again...

Walker has created 33,000+ jobs since taking office, which is pretty good since your Obama hasn't made any headway in the last 3+ years...  The Barrett camp isn't even fighting this fact, they are complaining that the information came out before the election. Yeah, like your going to sit on that!!!  But don't let the facts get in the way of your liberal union agenda...

I guess you would rather go back to the Doyle years of illegally raiding the transportation fund and malpractice fund to balance the budget...  I guess anything will do aside from making the unions pay their fair share in healthcare and pension.

Quote
Candidate Walker said he would require the use of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to balance every state budget

Exactly how many times must I say this before you understand . . . cash basis accounting meets GAAP requirements.  Oh well, enjoy the koolaid.
No it does not, (but keep repeating it maybe others will drink your elixer) . cash basis is what he railed against when he was candidate claiming  how false that standard of accounting was and he would ensure state would start using the GAAP.
Guess he changed his mind when he figured out using GAAP painted a more dismal yet more accurate projection.

The cash accounting method allows gimmicks to bring the budget into balance. For instance, shifting payments to local governments into the next fiscal year in order to make the budget appear balanced in the present.

GAAP, accrual accounting method, is a tighter standard that counts future liabilities that flow from past budget actions.

using Walkers own budget (page 33) Public record look it up.

GAAP is what he reports to fed , not cash,  which is what he is trying to report in-state to hide from Wisconsin his policies are not working. Stop reading spin and research for yourself.

Opening Balance (in millions) and yes these are negative numbers. deficit not surplus.
2010-2011  -$2,943.3
2011-2012  -$2,965.8
2012-2013  -$2,990.5

After all debits and credits (unfortunately even greater shortfall in revenue, could have had more but Walker gave huge corpo breaks to state )

Closing balance Before applying GAAP.  (in millions)
2010-2011  -$2,904.0
 2011-2012  -$2,932.0
 2012-2013  -$2,982.2

Now we apply adjustments using GAAP (even more of a shortfall). Estimated closing balance after GAAP (in millions)

2010-2011  -$2,965.8
 2011-2012  -$2,990.5
 2012-2013  -$3,024.5

But again lets not let facts get in the way.

The only believable thing in your ramblings against Walker is your one sentance, But again lets not let facts get in the way.  ;D ;D ;D

Only believable thing here is how other when presented with facts , refuse to objectively think for themselves.

I think this is the last I need to post on this topic. Facts is facts , choose to ignore that's your prerogative.
I'm not here to change your opinion. Some Refuse to actually read the budget and learn for themselves though it's
a matter of public record. One needs only open and read. However there are those that choose to remain ignorant
and debate from position of opinion not fact.

Being a Wisconsin resident I'd like to comment on what I see happening here in the state.

For those of you that have lost because of the reforms, I'm sorry that had to happen to you, as I think it would have eventually happened anyway, just as democrat controlled states are doing the same thing. This is what happens when you run out of other peoples money.

As far as the gainers vs. losers go in this battle, I'm on the gainers side. My property taxes went down for the first time in 7 years. Under Doyle my property taxes went up $400 in 2009 and over $500 in 2010. My 2011 taxes were down $42. I'm thinking this might not last but I'll take $42 over what could have been another $500  hike like under Doyle.

For you unionized public workers, you have to remember that the guy drying off your car at the car wash and the clerk at the C store are also paying for your wages and privileges.

These type of austerity measures are going to continue and sadly for you it was your turn on the chopping block, as the rest of us so called middle class already had our turn. Call it a race to the bottom or whatever you want, but just remember that we were all paying your wages and benefits and we vote our pocketbook as well.

The thing that always would grind my beans is that your unions would give money to mainly democrats who in turn when elected would meet with you to discuss your wages and privileges and I as a taxpayer had no representative at that so called bargaining table. Now with Scott Walker I/we do.    And finally it is beyond my feeble comprehension on how anyone on a bulletin board that promotes gun ownership, guns, target shooting and hunting could be for Barrett who received an F rating from the NRA. Is it that you are against Walker and not really for Barrett? You have to remember that Barrett has signed onto the Bloomberg Mayors Against Guns? Do you think Barrett would have signed a concealed carry bill? Again this pertains to guns and is on a gun bulletin board so please explain your position, as I'm curious??    A little story here for you, when we were debating the concealed carry bill here in Wisconsin the Assembly minority leader here in Wisconsin (Peter Barca- Democrat) indicated that he wouldn't vote for passage of the bill but would apply for a permit. Please explain to me how one can justify that? Again the democrats are the party of gun control, so keep drinking your blue koolaid and asking why we all just can't get along. For me personally I don't take kindly to gun grabbers...................

  Scootr says;
" The video catches Walker talking to a campaign contributor in January 2011, before he introduced the union-busting bill. Billionaire Diane Hendricks greets Walker with enthusiasm and asks two critical questions: how he was going to make Wisconsin a "red state" and if he would be implementing "Right to Work" legislation. Walker replies that the "first step" would be "divide and Conquer" the unions through a budget bill dealing with public sector workers. He also discusses legislation to limit corporate liability."

The fact that the Gov wants to push a "right to work" bill, doesn't necessarily mean he is against the unions..all he is doing is ensuring that a worker cannot be forced into a union, just to get or keep a job !  Providing as much job freedom as he can is one of the Gov's jobs.  Any Gov worth his salt should always seeking maximum freedom for the citizens of his state.
This only has to affect unions if they want it to.... they could do as any other company or organization does to head off their competition; ....that is to buckle down and work harder & smarter, and become more competitively efficient.

Competition improves everything!   ...and having public service workers compete can only help thje taxpaying public..

What you said makes sense...but try to convince some "seeing red" union members and organizers of the wisdom of that !
How many times have we seen a company close it's doors permanently because of union intransigence ?

A couple decades ago Trico windshield wiper systems was headquartered and had it's original manufacturing plants in Buffalo, NY (plants #1,#2 and #3 as I recall).  Then came a time when the union demanded a very hefty raise.  After much discussion for many months, Trico management offered the union a decent increase, telling them:
"this is truly our final offer, we cannot offer more, we would if we could, but we can't..so take it or leave it!  ...if you don't take it  we will be closing the doors and leaving."
   http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/Trico-Products-Corporation-Company-History.html

The union said NO...  next day the first shift tried to report for work...but the doors were locked..and the Trico plants...never hummmed again..not in Buffalo at least...

One would think they knew better... but they didn't !

Below; see Trico Plant #1...just sitting and chillin...

The union lackeys that post here never address this question. I have seen it asked countless times, they read it and their minds go blank because they have no reasonable comment that will favor their general liberal allegiance and their desired gun rights.

I am writing this date in my calendar!!!!!!!  TM7 agreed with me :o ... I almost fell out of my chair ;D .

Wrong TM;
Trico tried for many months to get an agreement.  Trico did NOT WANT to leave ..the product was invented by a Buffalo man and had a long relationship with Buffalo and supported many public charities and events..   They made offer after offer but were consistently turned down...  Finally, they scraped the bottom of their finance barrel and came up with a very decent..but final, offer !
  The union rejected the offer...

Wrong TM;

Buckskin,,,never really disagreed with your assessment of the problem,,,,just your solution for the problem, who you're blaming, and how bad the problem really is in the first place; and thinking Walker will solve it.....He's not...he's making things worse and polarizing Wisconsin society.  He works for big monied powers to ensure they keep their wealth and gain more at the expense of the working class. If somebody told me that after all this hoopla I got a token paltry $50 tax cut in comparison to what the TPTB got...I'd say they work for the 1%.  All these professional politicians in the elpha-donk party need replacing, imo.
.
.
TM7

There you go, right back to the wrong side. I knew it wouldn't last...  And you're looking at the $50 tax cut wrong.  It's $550 difference from the year before, and if it goes down again (which it will), even if it's another $50, that's about $1,000 difference from the last 2 years prior. If Walker stays in office and is able to keep lower property taxes ok keep them stable, you are looking at real money... Property taxes in Wisconsin rose for 10 years straight before Walker.  Milwaukee taxes have gone out of control under Barrett.

So Walker has reduced taxes for Corporations, big deal. He has also reduced taxes for small business. And when this recall thing is settled and Walker is confirmed you are going to see a serious jump in business growth and new jobs in the state.  Everyone is waiting to see if Barrett will return us to tax hell. If that is the case, hold on, because things are going to get a lot worse...

And what do you think these corps do with their tax breaks? Put it in a bank and watch it grow at 0.35%/yr?? They put it back into the business, add jobs, add facilities, add to the economy.  So don't act like it's all shoved under a mattress never to be seen again.  In order for this economy to recover, businesses need to be created and grow. Nobody in their right mind will attempt that if the government is going to tax them to hell. As well, most people have an interest in the stock market and when the big bad corporations do well, that helps out the general public.  I don't know why, but I've never bought into the envy thing.  If you want something the other guy has, go out and earn it. And I really don't care how much exec's make, don't even blink at their salaries. If the company thinks a guy is worth $15,000,000 so be it, maybe he is....

Un-huh! No deal blamed on the unions being uncooperative. I see.  So what happened to them...where'd Trico go??....They re-form under new title, bought out?  What was the transformation?

They now operate out of Texas and Mexico.

This is just for the Barrett koolaid drinkers, why is he against normal everday citizen owning guns for hunting, target /trap shooting or home defence? It's because he's anti gun. Wake up and quit sucking on the Barrett pipe. He's ruined Milwaukee and now you want him to ruin the rest of the state :o :o :o  Clueless koolaid drinkers, shame on you for not standing up for what is right. Send me a PM and i'll give your guns a good home before Barrett does.

I finished my regular work years with a "Fortune 500" company, as a 2nd shift dept. head. We had a great working relationship between company & employees..so when union organizers stood out front by the drive..they were told to keep their brochures by at least 95% of the workers going in or out.
What was their secret ?  No secret..we had a "profit sharing" plan..which not only encouraged all employees to do their best, but also to motivate others..and challenge "slackers".
Further encouragement to excel was offered, in that many of us had corporate stock...it was part of the plan where we could buy some stock weekly, if we wished.
Now you know why union was not necessarily welcome with the employees.  Had we voted for union membership..a whole new comtract wiould have been negotiated, probably without 'profit sharing' and the money we spent on stock of our own, would be sent to some overfed union boss in  some city, somewhere.

It was to everyone's benefit that production was good with quality high..  We were not interested in striking or otherwise being obnoxious..

that's the way we were at Delta Airlines....  most people don't realize that when you become unionized, every benefit goes out the window and has to be negotiated.  in most cases, you end up with far less than you had to begin with.

Total BS.
If they did that we wouldn't be in the position we are in.  They say thank you very much rip off the American tax payer , continue to outsource overseas and reinvest in infrastructure off shore and add to foreign economies not US.   Fidelity stuck Mass with a huge revenue loss . They took tax breaks then closed down in Mass and moved. Mass is so upset they are suing fidelity.

The Department of Revenue estimated that the state is foregoing $136 million because of the irrevocable tax breaks and compound that with lost jobs because Fidelity didn't live up to their end of the bargain when they accepted the breaks to begin with. ie -  create Jobs in state.

This is just one of many factual instances I can cite.

Hmm I wonder how much total Wisconsin will forgo in state revenue hmmmm!
Oh wait we have that figure  - Walkers tax breaks reported to add $67 million to the state’s budget deficit over two years.

So 67 million in breaks and negative to flat to minimal new jobs depending on whose numbers you want to believe.
(even if you used his bogus numbers , which all even remotely non partisan official agencies have reported they are.)

Your statement is total BS.

And lets not even mention the latest Facebook garbage with Saverin (what a POS he is).

The self-possessed conservatives should learn from this one...buy sadly won't. Capitalism can work nicely, but only with prerequisites of fairness, justice, and uncorrupted political hacks...otherwise doomed .
.
..TM7

and I only add to your list above  - Regulation.
Yes I said a dirty word REGULATION. I did not say OVER -REGULATION , JUST THE RIGHT LEVEL REGULATION.

It was deregulation and letting the foxes watch the chicken coop and the ability for non required transparency that caused our economic downturn. Those who want to return to previous deregulation policies are just plain nuts. Have we learned nothing? how many more housing foreclosures etc as example do we need suffer.

This too big to fail crud is just ridiculous as well.  Banking institutions should be boring. allowing them to acquiring private   security firms and then bet like wall streeters  against their own banking investments is just nuts.

Good post & explains things well, thou Libs aren't interested in that, only themselves.

Chainsaw, are folks in WI being reminded of the Democrap's position on guns. Attention spans tend to be short with many, looks like getting this gun info out again should be quite helpful.

nomosendero, Basically many of the democrat unionized workers will take full advantage of conservative led gains in concealed carry and in gun rights, but will still vote for the gun grabbers because they have been taught by their unions that their jobs depend on them voting for a democrat. For the most part these people are conservative and could do better for themselves without a union job, but the mediocre among them hold them back. Even the very intelligent among them have this fear of the unknown.

Under our last Governor(Jim Doyle D) we fought a long hard fight and passed a concealed carry bill that he vetoed and then had the votes to overide his veto but Doyle leveraged hard on Representative Sherman who originallly co-authored the bill, to change his vote, and this killed the whole process.  I worked many a sidewalk in front of many the major gun stores during that time and like here on the forum, it was amazing to me that these people that follow the "party line" even own a gun. The unwashed masses spewed some of the same rhetoric the Brady Bunch sent out as talking points. Many of the "blood will run in the streets gang" now have a concealed permit. Go figure.

Buckskin, Each one of these bulletin boards have members that seem to be on the side of the gun grabbers. I always ask the question of why someone would vote for an anti gun candidate like Barrett, and your right, getting one of these enlightened members to answer this is more difficult than one trying to pick up pixie sticks with your butt cheeks.

Last poll I saw had Walker up by six points, way outside the margin of error.   The unions are borrowing millions of dollars for this recall campaign; one has to wonder if the unions are not destroying themselves.

http://www.wisconsinreporter.com/exclusive-analysis-finds-wisconsins-act-10-saving-taxpayers-big

A few facts from article above...

MADISON — While a lightning rod for controversy and recall, Wisconsin’s Act 10 has paid significant dividends to taxpayers, according to a new analysis by the Beacon Hill Institute for Public Policy Research, at Suffolk University in Boston.

Act 10, which curbed collective bargaining for most unionized public employees, in the whole has saved taxpayers more than $1 billion, according to The Economic Impacts of the Wisconsin Budget Repair Act. The study is slated for release this week by Beacon Hill Institute, a prominent free market think tank.

“The cost-saving measures prevented painful tax increases that would have damaged the state’s private economy resulting in slower job and income growth,” said Paul Bachman, BHI director of research. “Moreover, the provisions avoided further painful layoffs of school teachers and other public employees.”

BHI also found that, by not raising taxes to cover the $3.6 billion budget gap, the state prevented the loss of 11,500 to 14,000 private sector jobs “by keeping more money in the hands of households and businesses.”

Individual income tax collections topped $928 million in April, up 3.6 percent from the same month last year, according to the state Department of Revenue. On the year, income tax collections neared $5.5 billion, up 4.5 percent compared to the first four months of last year.
General sales and use tax collections soared 9.5 percent in April, to $356 million, and were up 4.8 percent in the first four months, to $3.16 billion.

The Walker administration has reported property taxes had risen 43 percent since 1998, asserting that the average taxpayer would have paid an additional $700 over the current biennium without the budget reforms.

Sorry Scooter, Walker's plan is working like clock work.  The gravy train couldn't go on forever and if the public union members don't like the new collective bargaining restrictions go do something else.  There typically is 100-200 applicants for each teaching positions here in my district, my guess is that most of them would be just fine with having a merit based system as the rest of the non-unionized real world.

Updated: Thursday, April 19th, 2012

The up-and-down pattern of the state's monthly jobs report continued in March 2012. This time, the numbers took a dip in March, showing Wisconsin lost an estimated 4,300 private sector jobs. Additionally, the state Department of Workforce Development revised up by 2,100 the number of jobs added in February. The New Report says that there were 6,100 jobs added in that month. The revised new report puts state private-sector employment at 2,329,500, compared with 2,323,600 when Walker took office -- an increase of only 5,900 jobs since he took office.

That leaves the governor with 244,100 jobs left to reach 250,000.

New State Report: Wisconsin Lost 5,900 Jobs in April, But Unemployment Rate Drops  A day after Gov. Scott Walker called recent jobs numbers inaccurate and sped up the release of federal statistics, the state Department of Workforce Development reported the state lost private sector jobs for the second consecutive month.

http://waukesha.patch.com/articles/wisconsin-lost-5-900-jobs-in-april-new-jobs-report-shows

Additionally , the reason why some (not all) the unemployment numbers are dropping is because people have given up looking and have fallen off the reported unemployment ranks.

Rather than just rely on drive by media reporting for April I will research on .gov site
But at present month of March Facts is facts. Unless your part of the Walker admin and try to play with the data .

Oh and here is another interesting stat -

Updated: Monday, May 14th, 2012
on his campaign to create 10,000 new Businesses

When Scott Walker campaigned for governor in 2010, his top promise was to add 250,000 private-sector jobs in his four-year term. But there was a second big jobs-related promise:

"If you elect me as your next governor, I'll get government out of the way and lower the tax burden so Wisconsin business owners and factories can create 250,000 jobs and 10,000 businesses in our state by 2015,” Walker said in a
February 2010 speech. He made clear that -- just like his jobs promise -- he meant a net gain in businesses: "as we create those new jobs, we will be able to add 10,000 new businesses.”

Now that Walker has more than a year under his belt as governor, we thought it was a good time to check progress on this pledge. We checked in with the state Department of Financial Institutions, which Walker and business-formation experts say is the best tracker of this data. The department registers new businesses - and dissolves those that become inactive or go out of business. They calculate a resulting number of existing "business entities.”

After one year of the Walker era, there were 9,485 fewer businesses than at the end of 2010, Gov. Jim Doyle's final year in office. The picture is worse if you look only at Wisconsin business entities doing business here, and exclude out-of-state businesses that must register here to transact business. Those "domestic” business entities were down 10,189 after Walker"s first year, and down a total of 5,741 after 16 months.

So the numbers have gone backward.

Yeah Scooter, just ignore the 1 billion in savings from act 10, the balanced budget, the prevention of thousands of public employeed layoffs, the increase in income tax collection, the reduction of property taxes, the increase of general sales and use tax collections, the proven 33,000 jobs that have been created since Walker took over.  You just put all your apples in estimated monthly jobs surveys, that will get you somewhere.  Even Barrett's camp has given up on that one.  Now he's concentrating on the John Doe witch hunt and that he discriminates against women's pay...

Voter fraud is the only chance your union and Barrett has a prayer.

33,000 created ? what a crock .

lets look at the honest scorecard:
1.) giving away 60+ million in corpo Tax breaks then trying to balance on the backs of middle class sure paid off.
2.) Budget is not balanced (REF GAAP). kicking the can down the road is not balanced.
3.)negative Business growth , After one year of the Walker era, there were 9,485 fewer businesses than at the end of 2010. The picture is worse if you look only at Wisconsin business entities doing business here, and exclude out-of-state businesses that must register here to transact business.  4.)negative to flat to slight job increase for the year (if you call 5,900 jobs in over a year growth ) depending on whose numbers you believe , Walkers 33k inflated or Dept of Labor's stats of  5,900 reported.

Hmm.... with the abysmal numbers of new Jobs , negative creation of new businesses , I wonder how many Wisconsinites have had to leave the state to find employment elsewhere.  no wonder unemployment figures are down a tick.

5.) Oh and lets not forget this little ditty that happened in Feb.
Governor Scott Koch Walker has been sharply critical of using so-called “one-time” money from legal settlements to balance the state budget — now he defends his own use of Wisconsin’s share of a national settlement over foreclosure and mortgage servicing abuses — to help the state budget, instead of troubled homeowners.

Out of the $140 million share of the settlement,
$31.6 million was allocated to Wisconsin  —  Walker hijacked it to help Walker’s state budget shortfall: 25.6 million instead of using it for what it was allocated for. Monies provided to directly help homeowners. Great going Scottie.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him Think

Good luck.

I think this whole thread has run it's course, if the people in Wisconsin want to get rid of Walker and put in another socialist progressive that spends money that ain't there and grows the state government and taxes what's left of the private sector, and gives people money that can't pay the bank back (gee where does THAT money come from?)...I say go for it.  Nothing would please me more than to watch this happen and see the state go completely down the tubes like California....they deserve it.
Nothing worse than listening to people cry and whine when their imaginary money is cut off...I say let them have all they want and watch tnem all go down.
