S&W M&P22 magazines
« on: May 02, 2012, 09:21:57 AM »
Primarily I am a S&W wheel shooter with a few 2nd generation semis and assorted off brands like Colt, Remington, and Browning.
Yesterday I had lunch with a friend and afterward he took me in his favorite pawn shop. Just so happens that the owner of the PS son is the kid that was on Armerica's Got Talent or something.  Won so many weeks singing country music. Now he's making records and such.
Well, that ain't my primary account on wht I am posting on here. I really never cared much for the M&P line of Smith pistols (only saw pictures) I did breakdown about a year ago and bought a M&P 15-22 and DID NOT get bit by the bug.  I remains as stock as the day I bought it except for an old Weaver 2X scope.
Now we walked in the PS and up to the gun counter. Low and behold I saw a fancy M&P22 in the case.  I leaned down to take a closer look and I swore it said "take me home."  Actually it was my friend leaning over my shoulder looking at what I was looking at. Next thing I know the store owner had that M&P22 out of the case and in my hands. NOW, here's my question.  It only came with 1 magazine and I want about 3 more so I don't spend all my time loading that one magazine.  I know some of you M&P guys know whats the best and such when it comes to magazines.  Should I stick with the factory magazines or is there any after market mags. that are better?  I haven't even shot it yet and won't be able to for a week since my wife is dragging me off on a long weekend.  I just want to have more than one mag. but I want the best. Any help will be appreciated.

Well, not seeing any replies I ordered 2 factory mags. from Smith & Wesson. Right now factory mags are the only ones around.  At least that's all I could find.

Ive got mine from 44mag.com but there still factory mags. I dont think there are any aftermarket mags for them. I think most dealers are selling the factory ones..

44 mag.com are good people to deal with.  Ordered 3 factory mags. for my M&P 22 on Sat. and got them on Thurs. 44 mag.com sent me an order confirmation on Sun. and a shipping confirmation on Mon. telling me they had been shipped. Very nice online buying experience.  The mags. are factory.

I fixing to order some 16 round mags. for my M&P 9.

Dixiejack:  I recently purchased a Walther Pk380 to go along with my P22 - both sold by Smith and Wesson - and both came with only one magazine, so I called S&W and ordered directly from them.  The price was just about the same for the P22 mags - got 3 more for a total of 4 and it is well worth the investment.  I also ordered 2 more mags from the dealer when I purchased my Pk380 but he still has not gotten them in yet, but 3 weeks ago S&W sent me two new mags when I picked up the phone and called them.  I told them I just purchased the pistol but I was not having as much fun as I could because I kept running out of ammo too quickly and needed additional magazines.  The fella I spoke with at S&W understood immediately.  Of course, I then had to order a holster ya know.......  anyhow, it seems that deal;ing directly with S&W has its benfits...

I just got an email from S&W saying my order for 2 magazines that was on BO will be shipped in one week, which will make it a month as they promised.

At the same time I ordered the magazines, I ordered a holster for my M&P22 and it was shipped directly from DeSantis.  Smith's price is $4. cheaper than what DeSantis is selling it for.

I think it depends on who you talk to at S&W CS.  Several years ago I bought a Model 629 PC .44 mag. and it didn't have the scope base with it.  I went back to the dealer and he "didn't know nothin' about no freeking scope base."  I called S&W CS and the guy I talked to sent me one next day air for free. He didn't want the serial number--just the model number.

My M&P 9 came with 2 magazines.
