Bear Mount is shedding, What to do ?
« on: May 04, 2012, 04:33:25 AM »
Got a nice full body mount but when you try to dust it the hair comes out. One local taxidermist said it was some kinda of bug that had clipped the hair at it's base. I have another bear standing next to it done by the same taxidermist that hasn"t shed a hair in years. So why one and not the other ? Can anything be done about it ? Help appreciated. It is a big chocolate on all fours and Cabellas was going to buy it untill I tolds them about the hair slip problem.

If you don't have moths....maybe the taxidermist fleshed the hide too close to the hair folicle from the inside.  I have not seen this (thank goodness) in the more than 20 mounted animals that I currently have, but have heard of it happening.

Worth going to taxidermy.net and posting the question on one of the forums:  http://www.taxidermy.net/forum/
