i have a chance to get a 45-70 in pederlosi.
are they nioce guns?
will use smokless powder-not into relaoding. and chances are will just by ammo of the shelf.
-what kind of accuracy can one expect.
enough power in that to knock down moose and elk are does one need to reload to get the power needed.
-hard to reload -smokless- as do not want to be cleaning all the time.
any info one can give and avise would be great thanks

Hi,

What Pedersoli have you in mind? I have a Pedersoli Sharps Silhouette in 45-70 which I shoot with nitro. I buy off the shelf 405gr PMC for target shooting upto 200yds. Accuracy is good; shooting prone I can group most of my shots within a 4" bull. The rifle is certainly capable of much better performance with handloads and that's upto you to test and choose.

For the price and availability, you can't go wrong with a Pedersoli Sharps. They are good rifles.

Hi :D Like  Artemis ask, what Pedersoli are you referring to? I have a Pedersoli Sharps in 45/70 and it is very accurate with smokeless powder. Four of my friends also shoot Pedersoli's in 45/70 with great results. Only problem we have seems to be metallurgical on the parts. We all break firing pins after a few hundred rounds fired. They seem to be to soft and I am now having some made with drill rod.As far as smokeless powder goes , try IMR 3031, IMR 4198 or Acurrate 5744 with 405 gr. bullets Good luck on your choice.     Gary      :gun4:
If it is not worth shooting then it is not worth having..

:D Hi, I have a Pedersoli long range Sharps, 34 inch bbl. This is one great Rifle. I load 23 grs. 2400 and use a Dacron filler with a Carroll 405 gr. lead. With this load I have shot many one inch groups at 200 yds. I also fired a three shot 3 1/4 inch group at 600 yds. with this Rifle and load. Pedersoli makes great firearms, I like my sharps so much I just bought a Pedersoli John Bodine Rolling Block Longe Range Rifle, can't wait to try it out. You won't go wrong with a Pedersoli.    rk3006.
