Anyone using "my" powder?
« on: May 07, 2012, 05:16:56 AM »
I have been reading Over on GLOCK forums and allot of people are claiming Hodgdons Longshot powder to be gods gods gift to the 10MM.

I have been loading the 10 since about 1990 and HS6, Bluedot and 800X have been favorites. Reciently I see AA#7 works great with lite 155 grs...

Comments welcome,

I read the same thing.  I shoot only cast in my High Point carbines.  I just loaded up some 9mm with WSF & .40 S&W with Longshot.  With a couple of tenths of a grain higher than starting loads the pressure estimate is right where I want it without leading. With those 16" barrels I should gain a 100 fps velocity over advertised pistol velocities.  My goal is minute of paper plate with stock sight's at a hundred yards.  Haven't shot any yet.  Will soon.

I achieved my goal with Universal but WSF & Longshot are just a little slower burning for higher velocity plus I have 8 lb jugs from loading hunting loads for shotgun.

I have also read about WSF..

I must admit to not trying many of the "newer" powders. The "old" ones have worked so good for so long I saw no reason to try....

Time to expand my horizons. ;). Gonna make the trip tonight... Hope they have it!

I still have half a pound of #9 Lloyd. I'll try that too!!

As always thanks for the input guys!

Like Lloyd, I'm a big fan of AA#9, I use it in my .357 revolver and lever.
Good luck with your experimnts and be sure to post the results.

I never used AA#7.

I bought my Glock 20 in 1993, and I hand loaded AA#5 and AA#9 with 155 to 180 grain Hornady XTP bullets with super accurate success.

After I sold the Glock, I used AA#5 for 44 Special and AA#9 for 44 Magnum in my T/C Encore 10" 44 Magnum barrel.

I also use AA#5 in 45 ACP and 38 Special with equal results.

I also like the Accurate Arms powders!!

AA#2 Has given me Bullseye like prefomance from my 45 acp and 38 wadcutter loads.

AA#5 like a herco a bit hotter/slower good for lots a middle weight cartridges

AA#7 has been more like a red headed step child   A good powder little utalized by most

AA#9 "like" 296/H110/2400/Lilgun. A magnum pistol powder. Useful in all the pistol magnums 30 carbine and 410 shotgun shells.

Of these AA#2 and #9 I use the most.
