Ive shot hogs and deer with the 10mm out of my 610 smith and have witnessed quite a few other kills on hogs with the 10mm and it did just fine. I just got a 20 myself and will have to shoot a couple deer this fall with it. For the most part ive used 200-220 grain lead bullets but a 180 plus grain jacketed would no doubt do the job too. From what ive seen it seems to smack hogs much better then the 357mag does.

I have the Glock 20sf and will hunt with it this year. Ive shot 180 grain bullets @ over 1300 feet per second and 200 grainers at over 1200 feet per second and there is no doubt it will take a deer. I put adjustable sights on mine.

I just bought a G20 for just this purpose!!

I have a 6" barrel in route as well.

I have had, shot and loaded for the 10MM since about 1990 when. The Delta Elite came out.  I shot a Bren Ten before that. When S&W was in pure production I got to shoot one of those as well! I LOVE the 10mm but know that for a number of reasons you really need to roll your own!

Search uTube for 10mm. There seems to be a huge upswell in 10mm popularity going on. I wanted a guy kill a small rag bill elk with one just this AM!

Check out this video on YouTube:

It's a tremendous cartridge in a great gun!

Been thinking about getting one myself for hunting.

If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Accurate & powerful with great magazine capacity...what's not to like? Plenty of power for deer. I like mine well enough that I bought a .357 Sig conversion barrel for it. Shoots well with both calibers.

Killed a deer with my Glock 20 this past season. A 110 pound six point. One shot at 35 yards and he was down like a sack of rocks. Good tender eating. Shot it with a 180 Hornady XTP over a max load of Blue Dot. I've also shot a few other varmints along the way. It's been my #1 woods gun the last two years.

I plan on trying my hand with my glock 20 as well this year I have some 155 xtps at 1470fps that I think will do the trick just fine. I have a lone wolf barrel with one of the lone wolf comps on it. I have no problems holding a 3inch group at 50 yards with the set up.

I did get the KKM6" barrel for mine, I also bought a LWD 5.5" ported barrel.

I have been working up loads for two bullets. a 200g XTP and a 175 Winchester Silvertip. I am trting to use Longshot powder. So far so good zero pressure signs and so far good velocities, I am looking for a magic number combined with sud 2" 50 yard accuracy. So far I am just above max loadings and accuracy has been very good with every loading.

Before you jump on my loading past listed maximums. The 10mm was effectively "nuttered" after the FBI decided it recoiled too much and was not used by that agency. Look at origional Norma loadings and you will see what the 10mm was designed to do, the fact that it was brought out in the bren ten THEN picked up by Colt in the 1911. The 1911 designed for 20K pressures in a unsupported barrel was the beginning of this down loading.

Companies like Buffalo Bore and Underwood and one other, whos name escapes me. bear this out, as they load the 10mm to its full potential.

here is a couple videos I made at the first firing of hand loads. I had just bought the Go-Pro video and did not have it properly set up for sound. (Apologies)

Below are all shooting factory Win Silvertip ammo form three different barrels with velocities. I was not too happy with what I got... BUT I hand load, so I really don't care what factory stuff does. ;)

Thoughts on the glock 20 as a viable hunting handgun???

Sure it is!! I've used a 10mm in one form or another for the last four seasons... I've killed three deer so far.  While I haven't yet had the pleasure of using my G20, I HAVE used my old Dan Wesson Razorback and my Fusion 6" longslide with great success.  The Glock would work just as well!
