bfr .475 linebaugh
« on: May 10, 2012, 03:35:30 PM »
i got a pretty nice bonus from work this week for 20 years of service .  so i bought me something i have been wanting for a good while now ,  a shiny new  bfr  in .475 linebaugh .

now comes the hard part ...  looking at it  while i save up a few bucks to buy cases dies and a bullet mold .

i plan on this being a cast bullet only shooter  as i am just to cheap to buy them j words .
i know theres plenty of you guys out there with these  so heres a few general questions

how do you like your bfr  ?
what can i expect the  throats and bore   to  measure
whats your preferances  for bullets ( weight  and style )  plain base or gas checked
 your powder preferances
and any thing that may be useful or interesting

no bfr experience but if your wanting bullets a couple inexpensive good molds are the lee 400 rf and the rcbs 400 swc. Other then those two its mostly high dollar for 475 molds. A good powder for full power loads is 110. If you looking for reduced loads try 2400 or hs6. AA9 kind of bridges the middle.

Lloyd
i kind of figured i would try the lee mold first ..  i have had pretty good luck with lee molds , excepting my bpcr molds most  bullets i cast are  lee bullets ,  and heck  for the price they are cheaper then buying a box of bullets to try .
as  far as loads go  i dont get caught up in the whole velocity argument , i shoot what the gun wants acuracy is all i care about .

its going to be a couple months till i get to shoot it anyways , i cant bring myself to buy ready made ammo and my fun fund to buy  the extras is at zero
