This had nuttin' to do with the boys afraid of hurting the girl. It has to do with the fear of the boys loosing to a team with a girl on it. It also has to do with archaic sexist beliefs. IMHO, the best team still won.

Heck! In my young teens around 13-14 we had two girls as neighbors who were 13 & 15 at the time and pretty gals. One even became one of the high school beauties!
 Anyway we asked them if they wanted to play football with us? They said yes!
 Well my younger brother who was 12-13, at the time, looked at me and I saw that twinkle in his eye!! Naturally it was tackle football, and did we have a "great" game! The 15 year old gal was pretty rough, so we had to double up on her!
But these girls were rough and ready for combat and did not ever complain.

Nobody knows why girls want to compete with boys but sometimes they do.  Since there is no girls wrestling team, why not give them a chance?  In a free society that promotes freedom and liberty all the time there is no discrimination.  I have worked with women in construction that were great welders, electricians, and plumbers.  Only skilled women try to compete with men.  I did a lot of scientific field work under tough conditions.  The women were mentally tougher than the men in general and didn't complain as much.  People need to stop living in the 1950s.

I too have worked in construction with a few women who pulled their own weight, but most didn't even try. In school we played softball against a team with several girls playing and know for a fact that our guys did not play as aggressively against the girls as they did the boys and it cost us points. In the late 90's When my son wrestled in high school, there were girls both on his team and on the opposing teams. Some boys would wrestle them and some wouldn't. I know a case where one girl out wrestled a boy and beat him badly. The boy never lived it down. There was another case where a pretty girl wrestled a boy and lost. But not until the boy had his hands all over the girl in all places imaginable. He was a happy camper after that match. Those singlets are tight reveal alot.

ppine.. but but but....I miss the 50's.      Back in the ol one room school house, we used to play baseball and the girls played too, with dresses on even !  I can still see Rosie running to second with those size 44's hitting her in the chin, but I digress.
