An appeal to all you Patriots out there. How about showing some respect for the Office of the President of the United States? You don't have to like him or agree with him, but if you are an American that cares about this country then you should show some respect for him and for yourself. Referring to the President by his middle name, or some corruption of his name is amateurish and low class. There have been plenty of unpopular presidents in the past. Have we learned anything? People on the forum apparently haven't.

+1 for Graybeards post. Anyone who snubs the will of the people to push his agenda doesn't deserve respect. Healthcare, bailouts, stimulus, gay marriage. ALL are not wanted may the MAJORITY of Americans from opinion polls. WHY does he keep pushing it? Because he is a socialist or communist. His agenda is more important. I can't respect someone who looks down his nose at people. Check out his body language.

I have respect for the office, just not for the guy currently occupying it. In my humble opinion he won the election and therefore the title of President. Respect must be earned. I have no respect for someone who cares only about winning the next election and retaining the title of President. Does HE have respect for the office or does he use it to stroke his ego. Does he make decisions based on what's best for the country or what's best for him personally. It has always seemed kind of ironic to me that the best politicions that are good at making speeches,etc. and getting the job might not be the best at actually doing the job.

How are we expected to respect him when he disrespects the position himself. He is the first President in history to bow and show a subservient position to Kings and Rulers of foreign countries.

A man that has spent millions keeping his past unknown. Refuses to release his medical records, his school records, and his whereabouts for several periods of his life.

A man that has said he needs to tear this country down and rebuild it into a better nation. (In who's opinion).

The man belongs in the Chicago Ghetto, not in the office of the Presidency Of The United States.

He alone brings disrespect to the Office.

I still say someone is behind the times. If not they are way out in LEFT field.

I agree and would add we are free to voice our opinion . It has been so for as long as we have been a country. And it has been a goal to shut down all who disagree with the current admn. why help them ?
BTW check some of the old political cartoons and speeches we are no worst today than in the past.

I respect the Office.
But do not respect the man in the offcie, as he does not respect me (us).
I do not respect the man in the Office as he does not respect the Office.
He puts his feet up on National treasures. How respectful is that?
He treats our National house like a Flop motel. It is one thing to put your feet up in the residence section of the White House but on the Desk and on the coffe tables in the Oval Office is unacceptable.
Oh and whre were you when the Liberals were calling for the Death of GWBush?
Where was your cry of Civility when the Libs were calling him a baby killer?

Thanks to all for your responses. They are very revealing. The political discussions are too Southern and too much like 50 years ago so this will be my last post. I will continue with the technical discussions. Considering the emotionally charged nature of these discussions most people are pretty civilized on the forum. But the fact the group does not respect the President shows me that I am wasting my time.

This President does not respect you or the constitution so why should I respect him?
But I will give you one against the death penalty.
It is too slow and we need to speed up the process. We may as well not have it if prisoners are dying of old age before we can get the exicutioner to do it.

I'm a northerner, and don't consider the posts to be "too Southern", this is not a Southern vs. Northern issue, it is an American issue! As far as being "too much like 50 years ago", you are correct since anybody like the current president could not have been elected 50 years ago, and the question would never have been asked. I respect the office of President, but strongly disrespect anybody who would hold that office and run this nation down the tubes.

Its hard to respect anyone who has no respect for the other point of view ,a typical liberal attitude these days . Too Southern or do you mean consertive ? To much like 50 years ago , no not really more like back in the day when the Consitution was written ( note we do respect that document , do you or the president ?) . We all respect the office and that should be enough. Its hard to respect someone who lost their lic to pratice law . It was hard to respect someone who had sex with students in the WH , it was hard to respect someone who lied about lieing to the American people and all the other people who abused the American people by abusing the office. Yes you may very well be wasting your time trying to liberalize those of us wishing to reverse the path America is being forced down and return it to a place of hornor and all working to produce quality.

I can agree with that. You are wasting your time, and ours.
The president is a man...he earns respect as all men must, it is not given to him because he holds a respectable office or rank. It must be earned.
I hope the office of president of the United Sates survives.

How are the posts too Southern?
and how are they like things of 50 years ago?
Too Southern as in simple and strait to the point?
50- years ago as in no political correctness where you speak you mind and do not worry about offending someone with the truth?
Or are you trying to make this racial when it has not been? I don't care what color the President is. His policies and actions are what I am grading him on. And someone that gets an F in Politics, Economics, and Constitutional Law is not some one I respect or hold up as a shinning example of our Presidents.

He associated with with Rev. Wright who thinks all problems in the world today are white Americans fault.

Big government programs have NEVER worked for SOCIAL WELFARE or SOCIAL JUSTICE programs. Cost is too high, and people end up lazy dependents. Look at Soviet Russia.

Government programs have ONLY worked for engineering or technical projects like interstate highways, Nasa, roads, bridges, railroads, canals, dams, and sadly wars.

Some of you liberals and democrats need to study real history, and take some economics courses.

i show as much respect for the office has possible. the man sitting in the chair in the oval office has to earn my respect.
and as for the name calling, it reflects his lies, deceit and corruption of the seat he now holds. im not going to appologize for that.
the first thing he did was go all around the globe appologizing for the US.. is that respect for his own office ? i think not.
yes we have had plenty of bad presidents.. name one who did that ?
southern responses ? im from the half frozen north. this issue is an american rights and freedom issue, pure and simple.
