I think there is a difference between the Move on crowd and the people here.  The big difference is the Move on crowd hated Bush becasue he had an R in front of his name.  Plane and simple they are bigots.  They hate him for the group he belongs to not the actions he has taken.  Conversly I do not like the President for the Actions he has taken.   The aragance he has shown for us not wanting hi view of changing the country.  I think the behavior of the right wingers has been lawful, it may not have been nice but it was not the hate inspired demonstrations and vile things the Left has said about Either of the Bush presidents or Ronals Reagan.

Odummer, obummer, imam obama, islam is a fast growing cancer, a boil on the butt of the ENTIRE world, Muzzies, Dims, boil on the world's butt, a cancer, illegal kenyan, false pediprophet worshipers, halfrican, moo-chelle, Godless Ones.
...as opposed to Real Christians and Real Americans...
And none of thjat has left my keyboard.  The political knicknames of Obummer and the Welfare President, food Stamp President have motre to do with his policies than anything else.  And these are still less offensive than what the left has calles Republicans.  The Left always talks about the slippery slope and I think they have themselves to complain to about the decline of civility in modern politics that started with the protests of the Viet Nam war and the public attacks on our service men and women and has escalated from there.
The left is the one that embraces free speach and is quick to point out that they can say what they want politically.  And they do, saying some vile things.  But they are the first to yell foul if you do nto agree with them and they go on the attack not of the policy or the law but personally.  Look at what was said bout the women Clinton harrassed or assaulted.

I'm not going to beat around the bush; I hate what Barack Hussein Obama has done to this country and he's not alone.  I hate what the Dumycrats have done and are doing to this country.  You do wrong to my country, don't expect any respect from me.

The President is nothing more than another public servant and I don't bow down to anyone; let alone a servant who has vowed to change this country to something no one would recognize, who won't enforce our borders, who has wasted our treasury on stupid hairbrained failed projects, who panders to loutish labor leaders and ethnic groups with their hands out, who we all know for sure would remove the Second Amendment in a heartbeat if he thought could and who uses the accoutrements of his office as a no conscience entitlement.  What an absolute disgrace.  No, I don't respect him, nor the office he has diminished and debased.

I do admit that I've held back, because I'm in a mellow mood today.

Well, ppine said something about 50 years ago.

Well in 1960, 82% of Americans had health care insurance.  5-7% were unemployed and various stages of time.  Only left a handfull without insurance, mostly farm workers, etc.

We produced everything we consumed, from cars to corn.  We only imported coffee, tea, bananas, cola nuts, coconuts, and Brazil nuts.  All could be done without in an emergency.

We had an 85% functional literacy rate vs about 75% today.

LOTS of things were better.  We had no federal welfare program, no Medicare or Medicaid, because the elderly got paid enough social security to pay for their healthcare.  I know, I had grandparents who did.  They weren't in debt either.  Grandmother lived to 89, grandfather to 77, but had arthritus real bad that got him down.  If someone was down, family members helped them, OR their chruch, OR charities.  50% of Americans attended chruch at least twice a week.
Crime rate was lower.
Divorce rate was far lower.
Most women were homemakers and mothers.

Church attendance and being God fearing had a lot to do with this.  The greatest generation had gone through a depression and WWII and worked hard to make things better.  They raised a lot of spoiled kids though, and my generation continued the downward spiral.

Democrats with their socialist utopian ideals can't even match what they did in the 50's.  All with practically pure capitalism. Only thing big government did was maintain a strong military, and build the interstate highway system.  Yes social security was there, as well as VA benifits.  Government had very little deficit spending and actually had some surplus in the 50's and 60's even when the Vietnam war was going on.

There is NO free lunch, Someone has to pay for Big Government.  Whether now, or our children.

What? You're thinking ppine didn't know he was talking to a real american patriot, or at least someone with a talent for shouting down a dissenting voice?

I'll guess you didn't like that idea of respecting the president (until it's 'your' president)

yellowtail, no i'm not a role model. an american patriot is an ideal , not embodied by a single person.
i did not do anything, but we, as a group did just that. and ppine his self said as much.
i think ppine was trying to appeal to some ideal of patriotism that some here dont share,  and he got told so . he was not shouted down ( a liberal cop-out by the way ) he tucked tail and ran in light of his foolish request.
respecting the president ? like i said, i respect the office, i dont respect obama for what he has said, done and gave up of this country.
now if you are so disjointed by my post in response to the OP, i'm real comfortable with that. if you want to disagree fine too.

i'd had more to say, but deleted it, out of simple respect, brother.

I saw "the stood together" as that we did not quail from the topic when we were called racists and uninformed by PPine.
I took the "too Southern and 50 years ago" as we do not like the President because of his heritiage not because of his ideals and shame on anyone that dislikes him for his color or his parents.
As we here have pointed out we dislike his economic, domestic, and forgien policies, his disrespect for the office, his disrespect for the American poeple, his disrespect for the laws of the land.
I think political correctness has become the phrase that has cried wolf too many times and no one is buying it anymore.
For a Presidnetial ellection that was supose to end the division of the country, this President has been pitting one group against another as often as he can.  Any questioning of his policies or his background are answered with crys of racist and bigot when those were never the intent of the question only the intent of the deflection from answering the question.
The Left has corupted the language and Progressive sounds like some one that wants progress it is not these are the political oximorons.  A progressive is some one that progresses the Socialist line and is Anti Construction, anti Drilling, anti digging,  anti mining,  antio logging, Anti manufacturing, anti refining (fuel, wood, iron,...) and anti car (personal choice).
They have hit every heart string with "for the Children"  "clean air" Clean Water". Clean earth, Safe food, saving the planet, saving the polar bears or some other critter.
We have fertile lands in California barren to save the Delta Smelt or the K Rat (later found out that the specific K rat they have on the endangered species list is a double ressessive gene rat and not it's own species (like a chocolate lab) and we talk about millions in the country going hungry.  Gee lets plant those lands and send the water to the the plants and give people jobs and feed others.  But no, a small fish has to stay in record numbers and the Rat that is not endangered has to be protected.
Leftist thinking is all backwards, but no one would vote for a socialist or a flat earth/ no growth person or someone that says they want to end the middle class by getting rid of all the Union jobs listed above.

I guess it depends on who your heros are.
If you see Marx and Lennon, Castro, Sadam, and Stallin as roll models then I guess Obama, who is following in their foot steps could be a good roll model.

During his run for the Presidency, Obama was quoting directly for Carl Marx Communist Manifesto.  When I tried to point that out to people they did not understand or know what I was talking about.  So when I tried to explain it to them, they responded, "Oh, He would not do that".

Well now we know he knew what he was saying, and he meant every word.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

No problem. I respect the office but sorry, not the man. I give respect to those who earn it, not those elected that don't respect the office, the country, nor "we the people". He hasn't earned respect just because some were foolish enough to vote for him. Maybe if he did something for the country instead of hastening our downfall every chance he gets and making a mockery of the office he holds I might just respect him a bit more.

sourdough, do you recollect what President Obama said, that was quoting Marx? What was he talking about? I missed it. Might it have been something that variation of Luke 12:48?

I haven't decided yet what makes Obama a role model. Riding around in a limo with a homosexual snorting coke, or the fact that he was tutored by a known communist while growing up, or the fact that he sat in a church for 20 years and listened to a pastor that hates white people, and America. Maybe its the fact that Obama himself hates America, and is taking it to third world status.
