Something Positive
« on: May 15, 2012, 05:19:01 AM »
I have a radical idea for posters on the political and pot bellied stove sections.  How about focusing on a new idea that might make things better rather than grousing day after day about all of the things that are wrong?   If there were a better country out there to live in, I would be there already.  How would you like to live in Syria, Egypt, Libya or Mexico right now?  Maybe N Korea of China?  Having the freedom to voice your opinion is a great thing, but listening to the same whining and complaining all the time is tiresome.  There are a lot of pissed-off, curmdgeonly, conservatives out there.  Most of them don't smile.  It is not that bad people, and the Nation is in recovery mode.  I say lighten up.

Many here can see no positives in their minds as long as Obama is president. They enjoy rolling around in doom and gloom too much.

Ppine and Guzzijohn, is it the Conservatives or you that has the problem. Of those countries you  mentioned the clown has either given them our industry or the Muslim brotherhood. You have hooked your belt buckle on the ass of a clown. Now both of you go stand in a corner with your nose in a circle and quit crying.

If you really believe the nation is in recovery mode then truly you are one of those rare people who see an empty glass as full. We're on a steep downhill slope of greased glass. There ain't no stopping until we hit bottom and it will be generations at best before a way is found out of that deep hole at the bottom.

Here's a positive idea that should make things at least a little better... let's make sure that Obama is not reallected to a second term come November.   :)

PPine:

Such discourse is the stuff that helps prevent this country from becoming Mexico, Libya, N. Korea, etc. People around the country are dissatisfied, and it is having a difference. Remember when the republicans blew it a few years ago? They got kicked out of office, the tea party emerged spontaneously as a grass roots organization, now they are begging for another chance using a better platform. And the things they've done in congress have been relatively positive since then. There's been a lot of house cleaning like sudden retirements of destructive fixtures in congress such as  Barney Frank.

This sort of thing just doesn't happen in the other countries you mentioned.

It is costing me $875.00 a month to heat my house.  Up from $250.00 a month three years ago.  My electric bill has gone from $110.00 a month to $750.00 a month in the same period.  That is because the price of heating fuel and fuel oil to produce our electricity has gone through the roof.  We have a new coal powered electric power plant sitting there ready to go but Obama's EPA won't let us start it up.

The growth rate of my city is in the negative numbers.  I see the price of my property going down, and my dollar going down as well

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

When the country is going into debt measured in trillions, by which definition is that recovery?  When more people are out of work than any time in decades, by which definition is that recovery?  When the cost of energy is higher than at any other time, by what definition is that recovery?  When Medicare and Social Security are on the road to ruin, by which definition is that recovery?  When the Senate hasn't passed a budget in more than three years, by which definition is that recovery?

We'll find out in November whether the country is on the road to recovery, if that is even possible.

I don't see anything positive in the responses so far.  It will be work and require a change in your thinking, but I know you can do it.
