Wronged county worker!!
« on: May 15, 2012, 10:36:46 AM »
Seems that a county groundskeeper, a John Chevilott, was fired from Wayne county.(Detroit,Mi.) He was at work, and found a snub nosed revolver in some tall weeds. Called the police, but, they never showed up. (typical Detroit police!!) So, he kept on working, and after clocking out, took the gun to his local police station, and turned it in. When his supervisor found out, she fired him. He has 2 years left to go till retirement. Her claim is, country policy is no one is allowed to posses a firearm while working. Somehow, I hope this works out for him. His supervisor should be fired for being an idiot, and the cops that never showed up, ought to be reprimanded. But, in this day and age, things like this just doesn't surprise me anymore. gypsyman

We'll hear more about it. Either the supv/bosses are just scoundrels (strong possibility) or... they'll realize they've been scoundrels, repent, and re-instate the guy.

Probably both.

or could be there's more to the story we've not gotten. stay tuned
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Another case of "No good deed goes unpunished"!
I am thinging about the grade school kids that were suspended a while back.  One drew a picture of his soldier big brother with a rifle, while the other brought a toy soldier into school.  They were guilty of violating their school's zero-tolerance policies regarding guns!

He should have just kept the gun for himself and all would have been fine.  He would have made the situation safe and been rewarded for his good deed.
I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."

Union cops with protection of a union not responding or worry of losing their job.
union worker having some union policy or work place policy applied although it did not quite fit the event.
union supervisor same deal. would such failure of common sense have occured with out the protection of union rules ?
I am so thankful I live in a right to work state . Where a citizen can remove a dangerous weapon from where a child ot crook can get it and take it to police with out worry of job loss . Maybe getting a pat on the back.
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Another senerio to consider. Maybe if the person that got fired belonged to a union, this may not have happened.

I agree; I would have. I could use a .38. Or, if it was really junky... just hang onto it and wait until some dingbat municipality has one of those 'gun buy-backs' and get some cash for it.

Did anyone consider that the Dispatcher may have never "fwd" that call to a cop??

your point ? Is the dispatcher not part of the police dept ? I can't speek for others but I see the police dept as a whole .
Here about three weeks ago police were going around looking in cars , if something of value was in sight they called the owner and fussed about leaving valuables in the car. They did this around 3 am. Well last sunday they did not respond to a gang throwing bricks in windows of homes , several blocks were involved . The police claim it was not a high priority call and they didn't have funds to pay for it. Does anyone see a pattern ? could it be pay back for budget cuts ?

What if that gun had been used in a murder and some years later the police find out some how that, that was the gun used. Then you have a very big problem. Like someone else mentioned a police buy back on guns and they check the ballistics on it and it comes back as being used to kill someone. Like I said you would have a very big problem. The guy did the right thing and I hope he gets his job back. Dale

. Yes he did the right thing as far as we can tell.. Come to find out he is a union worker, and his union has gone to bat for him to get his job back and taking appropriate  actions...Just try that if you don't have any representation and on your own!

with out a union one could simply call the labor board , here they would tell  you to collect unemployment for several mos. they would repsent you in court and most likely you would get your job back with large cash settlement. All with out dues , taxes yes but dues no. Oh and the settlement would most likely be tax fee  ;) . So where is it one would have no representation ?  ???
