Lapping a smallbore
« on: May 16, 2012, 11:36:40 AM »

  Veral,
I have an order placed with you right now. One of the things I want to work on is a .223 bolt action. I have a converter that allows me to shoot .22LR in my .223. I was wondering if .22 LRs in the converter could be used to do the fire lapping? Thank you.
If you're gonna be stupid ya gotta be tuff

Yes they will and do a very good job, though it will take quite a few more rounds than if you had cast lap bullets with a higher hardness and more bearing length.

Probably the best ammo to use is the CCI quiet 22 LR, which have a 40 gr long rifle bullet with promised velocity of 700 fps.

The lapping may improve you adpter also, if it's a bit rough.
